Overall, the man is washed now but body of work is still sick.
I thought about it and looked at his IMDB, and you are right. I was surprised; I've thought very fondly of Will Smith, and I think he's done a lot of great work, but he hasn't actually done anything remotely decent in 10 years (!)
I never saw Men in Black 3. I liked the first one, then thought it fell off, so I didn't bother.
I am Legend (2007) and Pursuit of Happyness (2006) were both very good; Hitch (2005, I just recently rewatched it!) was also great. I enjoyed I, Robot (2004) but it was thought only OK I think
Before that, you have movies like Bagger Vance, the other Men in Black movies, Wild West (apparently it was terrible though), Independence day (great movie) and of course Fresh Prine. (90-96). His breakout film - 6 degrees of seperation - is watchable, but nothing special, imo
If you really grill his career, the TV show was good because of him, his stint as a rapper was not too notable except for the lulz, and he's done like ~4 really good movies and a bunch of OK ones.
He's washed up now, but for some reason absolutely considered A tier, which I don't think is warranted.
