Props to woody who pointed out all the manipulation heading into futures contracts, and now this massive dip the day before the first round of futures contracts expire.

Pretty naive to think there's not still massive manipulation and likely outright fraud on a huge scale.

I did play with a "bitcoin bro" the other night though, he was so lol and he had no idea what he was talking about. I could see why people get rubbed the wrong way and it's the most annoying poker subject. It's basically just that there are idiots everywhere in everything but the hubris coming from the idiot recently into crypto is unbearable.

It's not even that those people rub me the wrong way, those people are just a very accurate historic indicator that something is wrong with an investment.

As others have said, the tech bubble still resulted in the Internet, but that doesnt mean people who went ham on pets.com didnt get killed and crypto becoming a real thing doesn't mean "buy the dips, dont sell, click buy and make maney" is a legitimate investment plan.

And as I said earlier,

well-researched speculative ico gambles with money you can afford to lose>>>>btc>>>>>all the other worthless crapcoins

Updated overpriced worthless garbage ratings
1. Eth
2. Ltc
3. Xrp

All 3 will be worthless but at least xrp is no longer worth 100 billion dollars

Irrational investing doesn't create bubbles, excessive leverage does. Joe Blow making money in the market isn't a problem with the market, people/firms borrowing to invest will be the problem.

The market can both be a huge bull market yet still be rampant with fraud and scams, you just need to do your own diligence. Pets.com and the hyper-overrating of .com businesses wasn't foreboding of the internet and Amazon.

Reading about the people who got scammed by bitconnect is rough, but it also means they did literally zero research prior to buying as everyone outside of shills called it a scam.

95% of coins out there are garbage and should be worth zero. Funny enough btc, eth, and ltc are not among this 95%. You can make an argument for them being overvalued, but they are among the few coins people should be putting any money into if they are. And only put in money you can afford to lose. If you need to see why read all the Reddit posts from yesterday after bitconnect tanked.

Full disclosure: my holdings are small amounts that I can afford to lose. I own some btc (bitcoin cash from fork, haven't claimed any other forks yet), eth, ltc, neo, ethos, and icon.

Yeah pretty much. There's middle ground between "BTC will go to zero!" and "BTC to 100K, it's replacing fiat money bro!". The dotcom bubble was ******ed but actual valuable stuff came out of it. Valuable things will emerge from crypto, it's just super unclear what they will be and how much exactly they will be worth.

Btc isn’t fast enough and fees can’t ever be cheap enough for it to succeed long term. There is no reason for miners to expend extreme amounts of electricity to confirm transactions when >99% of the coins have been mined in a few years absent sufficient fees. With these fees the “almost cost less transactions” part of the thesis falls apart.

Btc can continue to be the leader for a few years and some cryptocoins will last but it’s not clear what the long term (talking decades from now) winners are. Anyone who claims otherwise is either lying to themselves or lying to you.

the problem with it going to 100k is that then it cant replace fiat money. if a coin is worth that much, then no one is gonna want to spend it on anything.

I mean, I had a some coins that went from 17 to 30 to 150 and then I sold at like 100. thayer loled at me for not holding on to 10k. I was pretty happy to make out with a couple grand in ahem merchandise for a much smaller investment.

but thaythay was ofc correct. I should never have used the bitcoin as money and actually spent it.
