They had bailed up some French guy in the street, probably kind of obnoxiously given what they were like, and asked him which way to the hostel. He pointed up at the Sacre Coeur, which is on top of the hill Montmartre is built on, and they hauled all their luggage all the way up the hill only to discover he was lying. I loled.

I found them slightly rude at times but generally fine and not as bad as true stereotypes. Met some great people too. l. Like anywhere once you try and fail miserably using the language they’ll bail you out but just barking English at them in their Country is bad form.

I was so sad about this, then i learned that it only applies to smaller counties.

Not having to pump your own gas is delightful, like, objectively better! Imagine not having to get out of your warm car in the winter!

I look forward to it every time I visit home.

Yes, and particularly in paris it's rude to just start in on what you want before you hit them with a "Boujour madame/monsieur." 90% of the time I did that they just immediately started talking to me in english.

Yeah. A guy asked me something on the street once, I think what the time was maybe. I got as far as "Je ne" before he waved me off. My accent must be horrendous.

I've pulled into stations not realizing they were full service, get out of my car, then attendent approaches and tells me, and I get in my car and leave.

Full service doesn’t take 2x as long. Know what takes like 10x as long? Instead of letting another guy pump your gas while you sit in your car you leave and go drive to another station.

Letting some other guy pump your gas is whatever. Who cares.

May is definitely the best time to do Scotland if it's a place you want to see at some point (the one month of the year that averages less than 20 days of rain!). Usually get some good weather which means everyone is kind of celebrating it not being ****ty outside.

I'm probably biased because I got engaged there last spring, but Paris is incredible.

Food, culture, awesome outdoor places to hang out, English only works fine there.

I was also apprehensive about how much I'd like it, but it's an incredible city.

Honestly my favorite memories from Paris are just taking a backpack with some food, booze, and a blanket, and just relaxing in the public parks there. Whether it's the Eiffel Tower Park, Place de Vosges, Le Jardin de Luxembourg, Boi de Bologne, the parks are busy enough to be vibrant but not overly crowded, they have awesome views of incredible landmarks that after time just blend in to be part of the scenery.

It's an awesome place to give yourself time to relax. There's tons to do and plenty of sights to see, but I'd definitely recommend doing Paris at a slower pace than you would most other cities you travel to.

Schu is all like "You think terrible weather is terrible? Ha! That's my life!"

It's going to get crazy though. A foot of snow in some places very quickly and up to 80mph winds
