There's very little feminism. It passes the Bechdel test and it features clueless privileged 20-somethings who understand the concept but don't see how it applies to them. Which is very Brooklynite, sure.
I've watched Dunham and Apatow talk about the characters and their arcs and they confirm what one would suspect when watching the episodes: it's not plausible that the creators are as clueless as the characters.
