Lol I really don't care. I'd just never do that in a game.

But then, I normally pitch slowpitch so this is more frustrating. Generally its the women who go up looking to walk because they can't fit for ****. I don't think I've ever seen a guy do that on purpose.
Dude, it's slowpitch softball...

Be honest, have you ever called a balk in one of your slowpitch games??

Karak,

when you play NBA/NFL video games, do you run the clock out in close games?

I don't care if we win or lose games, its rec sports, but have some self respect. If you want to do something cheap to win a meaningless game, more power to you I guess.

If running out the final ten minutes of a hockey game in your own zone online while some scrub curses you out is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I don't know, this just seems by itself to be pretty low on the sports douche scale. The celebration afterwards is pretty horrible, but no one's arguing that.

TSC is a man. Too bad no one cares about proving your manhood in a softball game.

well obv the celebration is by far the worst part.

But we are talking about a sport where fun is all that matters, right? Winning or losing should not matter, so why not swing the bat? You go up looking to walk because its a guaranteed win? lol, okay.

Carlton Fisking it while screaming WEWINWEWINWEWIN!!! is indicative of a lack of awareness that is thematic in your stories. For every angry girl slamming her mitt off the wall, there were 50 onlookers watching you revel in being a supreme choad, giving thanks that they themselves are not on the spectrum.

Like if I had to guess, you were much prouder of the fact that you devised that method of victory than your team actually winning. You claim to have retold the story to many lolz, but realistically that scenario was like: Yeota is talking to a girl at the bar about how you two had a game that day and you hijack the conversation with "AND THEN I REALIZED THAT IF I TOOK A WALK WE COULD DOUBLE WALK...!" as everybody rolls their eyes.

I'll hang up and listen after getting my shinebox and loading dopezebra.gif in a new tab.
The king has ****ing spoken.

I don't think it was a big deal since he was the captain or whatever the **** he made his teammates call him, and they hadn't won a game so he just went out and did what needed to be done to WIM and will his team to victory. I mean the females were surely happier to win a game than to have him swing his dick around in the box and hit a 1 hopper back to the mound and get thrown out by 59 feet which is probably the alternative. The jumping up and down shouting like a schoolgirl is what makes the story Karakesque.

Basically this. TSC was almost right on this one, which is rare. Then we come to find nah he's still wrong because he doesn't understand the part of the story that makes Karak a douche.

Didn't you notice that the "Meh I don't really care/it's not a big deal" card didn't work for Karak and doesn't work for you here?

I don't care at all that you think I am being a douche about this, I find the celebration pathetic and I find going up there looking to walk pathetic. Swing the bat, whats the worst that happens? You lose another game? Its rec sports.

Carry is a perfectly legit call in a pickup game if you only use it for the full palm under the ball AI cross-over.

Eh, the point of slow pitch softball is to swing the bat and watch people in the field fall down, not to "grind out" walks in tough ABs.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, and Forum Discussion

I feel like no one would have had a problem with karak's story if he didn't post the add-on about celebrating (as eurotrash suggested). Granted I play fast-pitch softball and have never played in a slow pitch league but who cares that he tried to take a walk? As a baseball player my whole life, it's always my first instinct to be very selective at the plate, even in rec. games. I have np with walking every single time in a league that allows walks.

On a sidenote, I play competitive full court 5 on 5 pick-up games in my local gym with some really good players, and carries get called ALL THE TIME. Sometimes they come with arguments, but not as much as you might think. No one who plays thinks it's bush to call a travel on someone if they think it's clear.

lol fastpitch and slowpitch are not even comparable at all from a hitting/pitching perspective.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, and Forum Discussion

of course, but as long as you can walk, I have np with it.

I'm gonna get super flamed/trolled for this so I really shouldn't bother but **** the haters I will anyway.....it's no secret at this point among many that I play competitive wiffleball. No one who plays the game with their friends in the backyard steps into the wiffleball batters box looking to walk. But in the games/leagues/tourneys I play, looking to walk is a strategy no different than the one an MLB hitter would have.

I understand it's recreational softball, but you still try your hardest to play your best right? If that involves taking a walk because the AIDS ridden pitcher won't give you anything to hit then so be it.

EDIT: In most rec. wiffleball games that you'd play with your buddies or something, you probably can't walk. I've played a bunch of pickup softball games in my life with friends in which it's lob pitching with no walks. I can't really imagine a league that is the same idea but base on balls are allowed. But if I could, I can't see myself taking a different hitting approach than in any form of baseball I've ever played.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, and Forum Discussion

As someone who plays against reasonably good competition still (over half the teams in our division have former professional pitchers starting for them), the top-tier amateur whiffleball pitchers are just as hard to hit against, if not moreso. For more information, read Andy Roddick Beat Me with a Frying Pan - specifically the chapter of "Could the NL batting champion dominate whiffleball pitchers?"

The answer is not only "no," it's a joke how bad Freddy Sanchez gets maimed.

But the real question is: Why don't you just play baseball instead of fast-pitch softball and whiffleball?

It would be really easy to walk in co-ed softball. Just don't swing. And you can't "grind out" an at-bat, as they just call you out after I think your 2nd foul ball once you get 2 strikes.

The real expert move would have been to crowd the plate and lean into the pitch for the win.
