think one of the top threads for views in this forum has like 300 posts.
It's a better metric than posts to me, high post count threads tend to be filled with lots of one like crap and end up being like 20% stuff actually being epic and 80% people saying EPIC OMG LOL.

some of the SUB and friends draft chronicles

The whole culture of random fans acting like draft experts puts me on huge tilt.

It's weird, since a lot of 2p2 is us acting like we know a lot more than we probably really do... but for some reason when it's about the draft I get confirmed mad.

Meh- to be fair he's mostly saying the guy is a risk. He just happens to be a risk that panned out.

The draft is a subject where we're even more ignorant than usual despite having a couple of months to pore over the information. Any casual fan who talks about his draft opinions with such massive conviction deserves to be laughed at.

It's a combination of

1- People obviously not having nearly enough information to know anything
2- The people that do have that information just because they love the draft and gathered it on their own being fundamentally insane and terrifying.

Yupp. Its like CFB recruiting, where none of us know anything about any of the kids, we just slurp up all the articles and scouting reports and boil it down to the number of stars, arguing about whose class is better -it is ridiculous really.

It's even worse than that, because at least with college recruiting, it's often public information what all the other teams think about a player. When a guy commits to a school and all he has are offers from Sun Belt or MAC schools, you know the guy is a reach, and if you have a bunch of those, you're probably in trouble. In the NFL draft, we have no idea where other teams have guys on their draft board, so we're pretty much at the mercy of what the talking heads on ESPN have to say, or maybe even worse, our own impressions based on the five minutes of highlights we've seen.

Yeah, I mean, if Talking Head Consensus has a guy as a 3rd rounder, and you're a little lower on him than they are (say, 4th rounder), and a team is a little higher on him and takes him in the 2nd round, you're going to think OMG HORRIBLE REACH when it probably isn't at all.

yeah i've always hated draft culture in all sports, but most of all in the NFL and NHL. The NBA might be okay, because there it's pretty obvious who the best players are, generally (lol sam bowie, etc.). anyone who follows the MLB draft is lol.
