One of the many great things about being Canadian is you don't have a "natural" NFL team you have to root for, from a geographical standpoint (in before the lolBills), so I can just freely root for whatever team plays against the Patriots.

Was that on today? I got a message from a buddy asking if I watched Jeopardy today, I'm guessing I know why now.

What also sucks are the sports fans who are fans of teams that were good when they were kids. When someone my age is a fan of the Cowboys, Bulls, and Braves, their father failed in his duties.

Never understood the hate for band-wagoners. Any other product, smart people would be expected to switch their allegiance based on quality and enjoyment, don't see why sports teams would be any different.

I understand the advantages of following the local team (access to games, community of fans etc), but if you moved away from home years ago and still follow the Browns/Bills/Cubs/Wizards/Pirates etc., you're a bit of a sucker imo.

That's why sports aren't quite like 'any other product' though. I mean, yeah, that person is kind of a sucker, but they're clearly loyal, too, and that's also a good quality.

My roomate sophmore year of college was a dallas cowboys fan who jumped on the bandwagon in the 1990s, despite his father and 2 older brothers being all New York Giants fans

It's inconceivable to me how they let that happen

Yes, children should be brainwashed so they support your teams. Anything else is unacceptable.
don't think so

you should root a team in the area to have a more communal bonding experience

otherwise, you're getting very little out of sports (unless you gamble on it)

Dear Mr. Tuq,

I couldn't help but notice the description of my ban from two nights ago. The reason given for it reads: "going full ****** and spamming the forum with a bunch of dumb threads". It actually should read, "going full ****** and spamming the forum with a bunch of ELIte threads". I ask that you correct this slight, albeit important, error. Thank you.

Respectfully,
dmisfh1

I wanted to like them, but I just ended up not caring.
This is very eerie... funny... and some other adjectives that are failing me now because I did the same exact thing 3 or so years ago, and chose the same team. Inevitably I had the same result.

I have been successful in my quest to be an OKC fan that began 2 years ago. I am still a Hawks fan first and foremost, but root for the Thunder in any situation against any other team. I may have been helped by placing bets on them to win the West and the NBA title in the past, but I am still rooting for them this year with no monetary involvement (and that looks unfortunate thus far).

I was just coming back from the corner store (2 blocks away) and a huge tree branch just split this ladies suv open like a can of soup. (were having a nasty windstorm)

she was on the phone with someone while it happened, so when I ran over I had to grab her phone to call 911, there was some lady going crazy trying to ask what happened. I had to calm her down, and the lady in the car.

driver was so lucky no one else was in the car (branch impaled moonroof too, and landed in backseat after the fronthalf of it smashed the window and bent the frame between windshield and moonroof into a V shape) and that she didn't get killed or seriously injuried. she only had some cuts on her face and her hands got cut up too.

after i got her to stop crying she said "I'm so glad I had my pins on the visor, and my holy water in pocket of the door." and finally smiled. (religious pins)

****ing ambulance drove right by us to after I had already called 911, and never turned back around after the girl behind us tried flagging it down.
