I love drafts. I have enjoyed the few I was a part of and enjoy reading others that take place, but its pretty unbearable for me that few finish at all, none follow the deadlines set by the OP, and I have never seen any that actually get judged or anything like that.

I feel like if there was an actual enforceable participation standard then they would progress so much better. I think some system that includes a ban, probably after a warning or two, should be instituted so that those that sign up cant just disappear to the detriment of the other participants and forum as a whole. I know that I would join more drafts (and invest significant time into them) if they were certain to run to completion at the speed designated before the draft. I feel like others would too.

Do others not feel the same as I do? Is everyone else really fine with the fact that every draft dies or hits a dead period at some point?
I agree with your attitude towards the drafts, and with dkgojackets points as well.

Of course people are pretty busy, but its not to hard to pay general attention to the draft thread and the spreadsheet every so often to see if youre up soon. If youre busy for parts of a draft its easy to pm people pick lists or post that you need to be skipped in order to keep the draft moving. If for some reason one is so busy that they cant do these things, they just shouldnt participate.

As for what can be done about it, I think there should be a list of people who get chronically skipped for drafts and a stricter selection process for who can draft. Then if someone does get skipped 2-3 times in a draft they should just get booted and someone lurking can take over. Also think that the amount of people and rounds can be cut down. Also the commish has to be good and on top of things for a draft to succeed. There have been a few drafts recently where the commish got skipped multiple times, which just sets a bad example and is a bad look. All the hockey drafts we have had where dwd was commishing ran really smoothly and got completed. Some other ideas would be to perhaps have all the participants in a skype group so that its easy to see whos online and who isnt. Not exactly sure which of these ideas should be implemented, perhaps all of them. I just know the status quo is pretty unacceptable, especially considering that SE supposedly prides themselves on drafting.

Are both of you blind?

Have you not been reading the video game draft?

I got those fools hook lined and sinkered cause of my draft skills. Everything is going smoothly there except for a few haters trying to bring its greatness down.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, and Forum Discussion

Video game draft is running smoothly it seems, hopefully it stays that way to the end. However, considering all the drafts that have been done in SE, a smooth and well run draft seems like more of a rarity than a trend.

90% of the drafts are terrible. the MLB all time draft stands out as being among the best. other than that I can't think of any. Oh, the desert island draft was fun to follow.

but enough of that....why did adjci get banned?

Last edited by natediggity; 01-06-2012 at 07:43 PM. Reason: the video game draft is pretty sweet too

halfway gave up on the GOAT moment draft when assani drafted tebow's birth, then completely gave up when he drafted hogan joining the NWO

conceptually, i didn't (and don't still) think it was a bad idea for a draft, but really it was pretty dumb of me to try to run my draft the same time as the video game draft. that died so ****ing fast

in other news, goldenbears about to win another million dollars but it won't matter cuz the SEC STILL wins another national championship

Drafts should be self regulating.. just don't allow people in who drop out.

If you start a draft you don't have to let everyone participate.

His last post is from a "racially discriminated" thread. I'm guessing he couldn't help himself saying racist ****.

phb is ok but lately he's started to get more and more needlessly aggressive.

and his inability to understand hypothetical situations is a little mindblowing.
