FYI though, Detroit was probably the most important American city at one point in time. I don't take any joy from pilling on about the city's current plight and I hope things improve there.

Also the person whos credited with saving the most lives by himself during earths existence, Norman Borlaug, is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (Suprise, Suprise, I got an A on that paper as well.)
