Honestly I'd prefer it be disallowed to go into opposing team threads because it never ends well but that's been suggested in the past and too many people were against it. Without question the Twins and Tigers discussion would suck a lot less.

Most of the Twins fans are cool about it but a few aren't familiar with the ways of the GREAAR and turn the playful banter into serious biz.

I think the main points I've discussed in that thread are:

1. The Twins lefties actually hit lefty pitchers pretty well.

That was my first foray into that thread, which was met with namecalling by ikes and GREEAR (I remember idiot many times, and GREEAR telling me to kill myself at least three times).

2. That while Cabrera was having a great season, even better than Pujols, Morneau was having a better statistical season. And when asked about it, I agreed that Cabrera is better than Morneau for the future (but maybe not by a huge amount, which evidentally is saying something terrible about the Tigers).

3. I expressed surprise that a particular play was called a hit rather than an error, and I brought it up to talk about it.

I'm not sure exactly what is so horrible that I said about the Tigers...

I should say that's where things started--I could have gotten a bit upset at the nth time that ikes and/or GREEAR hurled a personal insult my way.

Braves fans somehow post in the Mets thread and don't bother me at all. I feel like its pretty simple and should be able to be replicated by every other posted on 2+2.

I would love for the troll GREEAR to stay out of the Twins thread. I believe many Twins fans have told GREEAR to f off and gtfo.

I mean, they are Braves fans. Braves...braves...brave...bra...ves.....br...titti es.

BTW, I think I've reported GREEAR for stuff he's said in the DET thread twice. Once (well, it was actually two of the three posts) for telling me to kill myself, and second for using a homophobic slur directed towards me. Both things I think are vastly over any line of appropriateness (and at least on the first issue, the mod who replied to me definitely agreed...).

With all the namecalling you and GREEAR have done in that thread directed towards sam and me, if my goal was to report people for breaking 'minor' forum rules instead of trying to have a discussion, there'd probably be 100+ reportable posts.

OK, I looked through the DET thread to see how things started. Relevant threads reproduced below. tl;dr I know, but cliffs:

someone mentioned Willis might not be bad against the twins because he's a lefty, and there were a lot of lefty bats the twins played in the prior game. Some back and forth with sam and ikes mostly. I say in my first post that I don't think it's trolling to point out the twins lefties are good against lefty pitching, and that just saying Willis may do well because the twins have a lot of lefties is shortsighted.

More back and forth with sam and ikes, and I post again, pointing out the lineup he's talking about isn't the one that the twins would play against lefties. I am sarcastic with a second point, but the third is saying that I hope Willis faces the Twins and that it seems ikes is agreeing with what sam is saying. Ikes then calls me a ******, tells me I can't read and am a troll. I do get a bit irked and post one sarcastic reply. I post again saying not to get so upset that I didn't remember his wording from earlier (I was probably remembering his implication, not his words). ikes then tells me to get on my knees and service LaVar Burton. (Last thing is ironically funny since he said something like twins fans suck lots of dick, then backed off by saying 'there are female twins fans, so that comment wasn't homophobic).

---Some back and forth between ikes and Minnesotasam about lefties in the twins lineup and Willis. If I remember right, most of the DET fans were pretty fed up with Willis' poor performances, and hoping that because the twins had a lot of lefties, he might not be his usual crappy self (can I say that since he's subsequently gotten released by DET *and* ARI?) ---

And I don't think pointing out the Twins aren't that susceptible to lefties is really trolling. Mauer and Morneau are good, and Thome sits for a right handed bat, so just looking at lefty versus lefty matchups is a little shortsighted.

If you're serious Willis is pitching Thursday (I haven't looked at the probables), I can't wait. And since this discussion started with someone saying they thought Willis would do well against the Twins, well, 'a chance that Willis won't be awful' sounds a lot like you're disagreeing with the argument, and agreeing with sam.

BTW, sorry for the long post--but I felt a little attacked by things ikes said about me in this thread. I wanted to show that the interactions were shaped quite a bit because of the reply a few relatively innocuous posts of mine were replied to. Oh, and if it wasn't obvious, when I put (note: ... ), that was not in the original post.

That is, if he had said "Well, what I actually said was ..." instead of "******", "learn to **** read before you troll" things would have been significantly different.
