I am primarily a soccer fan and I find all the soccer threads to be a bit much. However, I don't really have an alternative solution. I am just stating that I appreciate that many people would complain about it. Perhaps the WC threads should have gone in a temporary subforum, or perhaps one or more (or more) threads should have been combined.

Yes, a lot of material is thread specific, but a lot of the ancillary comments, trolling, etc. is common to all threads. I found when jumping back and forth, a lot of the same comments were being made. Also, many people seemed to find a specific soccer thread and use it as an "omnibus" WC soccer thread.

With that being said, I think the mods (especially Seth) have done a good job dealing with all of this. I really is a monumental task and I vote that they be given a 4-year break from WC related stuff once this tourney ends.

Guys, I think anyone following the USA 2011 & Beyond thread has noticed the elephant in the room: it's just too big and taking off way too fast. I think to make the discussion manageable and keep it from flying off into seven simultaneous tangents at once, which we all know is a big problem in super high-popularity threads like this, we need:

can we have an England team thread, or an 'all other nations' national team thread? the EPL thread is pretty much being taken over with talk re Capello right now and the debate is probably going to continue for a while.

I think having a US one and an 'other teams' one makes sense. I also wouldnt mind if both were in the single team forum

Doesn't seem like a big deal to have this discussion going on right now, as the season is still some time away. I imagine the English National Team talk will die down in a few days. In the oft chance that it doesn't by the time the WC is over I'll be stunned, and in that case we'll need to put a stop to it in that thread.

I don't really think there's a need for a thread in the single team forum, probably won't get much traffic once the WC is over. I would think a single Euro 2012 qualifying thread will pick up that talk.

You can take that into the random discussion thread once it is reopened after the WC, and then the Euro 2012 Qualification thread should be there quite soon.

Random discussion thread is fit for purpose. I had no idea where these things were talked about prior to the WC, figured the US would get a place to discuss their team and the rest would be left out in the cold.
