Based on recent bumps, do both Daliman and RedBean regularly kiboze themselves, or is this a result of thread subscription? I would do this, but I think there would be a lot of false positives.

1 NFL offseason thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 8 divisional threads >>>>>> 32 team threads, especially when there's like 3 bills fans on 2p2

Personally I think we should just use Division threads instead of individual team threads. Obviously teams with a large 2p2 fan base (Yankees, Red Sox, etc.) can have their own, but I think these individual team threads where only like 4-5 people are posting are kind of out of control. The divisional threads are more fun anyways since you get to trash talk with rival fans.

How awesome would it be if the Phillies and Mets threads were merged? Man, I'm gonna get wasted some time and do that, and then totally forgot that I did until a bunch of angry post reports come in overnight.

I like the idea of no more "best of all time" list threads as mentioned in the centerfielders thread...just gonna add my 2c.

I more or less agree. Its ok for one from time to time - the issue is that when there's one, every clown wants to start another one.

Are we not having a video sticky thread anymore for a reason?

3 weeks without a post, desire to remove clutter, thread still easily findable by anyone who wants to bump it or post in it.

Title says it all.

Philosophically, we (Nash Head, Ebenhoe, T.u.ck and I) are all opposed to forum splits and fragmentation *cough* golf event discussion *cough* but there may be some unique things about these threads that make a subforum for them appropriate.

1. They take up a large amount of space on the front page, which causes a larger than desirable amount of turnover during peak sport seasons.
2. They cater to a loyal subscriber base that will (we think) make the extra click to visit the subforum.
3. The trolls who want to razz the homers will obviously make the extra click.
4. There are very very few instances of casual fans "dropping by" a team specific thread, resulting in minimal risk of overall content loss. The only real exceptions are team threads after things like the World Series, etc., where there may be some loss of traffic.

That all said, we want the forum to weigh in. It's not a poll because we want actual commentary. Keep it civil. No discussion of other subforum ideas (e.g. soccer, fantasy sports, etc).

Thoughts?

i like it. i love my yankees thread and the giants thread during the nfl season, but i suspect with soccer rising in popularity around here, around september it's going to get overcrowded with all the nfl/mlb team threads, nfl/mlb season threads, etc.

i'd support doing it on a trial basis.

The Mets, Yankees and Gree- I mean Tiger threads might as well be stickied during the season.

I doubt the number of soccer threads is going to increase at all this year vs last.

Hmmm this could work. Definitely worth a trial run methinks.

agree with a trial, i don't really use them apart from occasionally the red sox or afc west threads, filtering them off wouldn't be the worst thing ever

Things like AFC West would stay. Conference/Division/Whatever would be main forum, only team-specific threads would go in the subforum.

i dont see what the big deal is with having the extra threads there, it's not hard to find the thread you're looking for...

I kind of like this idea. Move all team specific threads to a subforum. Less clutter on the main page, of what is essentially extremely narrow content. This won't neccessarily increase the number of "good" threads, but it should make the threads easier to spot, and probably result in more discussion.

I know you said no additonal subforum discussion, but I kind of like a "game thread" subforum as well.
