assani never insults anyone or makes a discussion worse. that's the difference between the two. you should know better.

Had I said "Football", it would have meant something other than what I meant. Footie makes it clear I meant "Soccer". Happy?

If only there were another word for footie that didn't make you sound like a fabulous eurotard

tebow thread? 2009 weekly NFL threads? how is blatant trolling that isnt the least bit successful not the definition of "making the discussion worse"?

I don't read Hand Egg threads, so no idea there. Maybe he's AIDS there. Maybe it's so bad he deserves bans. I have no idea. In my posting world, which overlaps solely with Assani's NBAing as well as random OOT thread, he is the best.

assani unquestionably makes NFL threads worse, dont see how this can be debated

He argued with me in a gameday thread for over an hour about a play that he hadn't even seen. Yet, I didn't know he hadn't seen it until the hour later when he rewound his DVR and finally saw it.

He also said I shouldn't talk about the play because as a Texans fan, I was "too biased", whereas he was only "probably biased" as a Ravens fan.

So he said we should appeal to a third party* (at this point I still assumed he had seen the play - which he had not) (Chim17 - a Broncos fan was the third party viewer) who had seen that play, but had missed another one that would have helped prove my point. Then he pointed to Chim and was like "See, see! You're wrong, Chim said so. Thanks, Chim!"

It was utterly ridiculous and filled with typical Assani condecention and "my **** don't stink" attitude that he spews about the threads.

He also has a habit of calling everybody "biased" when he's far more biased about his 2 favorite teams than most posters on this site about their single favorite team.

He's certainly not close to ban-able though.

*I informed him that a third-party had already ruled in. CBS sports showed a replay and basically made fun of the refs for missing such a blatant (and hugely important) call. 4th and 1 Arian Foster stuffed but with a blatant 15 yard facemask that should have given them first down. But nah he didn't want to accept CBS sports. I guess they are biased Texans fans or something. He arbitrarily chose Chim as the arbitrator.

If a non-banned poster wants to wander in there, fine ... it's like being caught outside after dark in "the Omega Man" and you are on your own.
This idea deserves a run if for no other reason that the two nice movie references.

I don't think people understand how patient the mods really were. Epi got eight tempbans-- and really could have gotten quite a few more-- and BF was already banned once and frequently pushed the line. Really, this could have happened months ago. To suggest that "nine strikes and you're out" is somehow unfair or uncalled for is ridiculous.

On another note, Assani was terrible in that Tebow thread:

AF: TEBOW JUST WINS
everyone: Stop trolling
AF: NO I'M SERIOUS
everyone: OK fine, then your opinion is dumb
AF: LOL JAY KAY TRICKED U CAN'T BELIEVE U FELL FOR IT

you do anything at an elite enough level and it becomes art...that's where assani is for the most part. bad comparison imo

i think the opposite. was by clark's grace that epi hadn't been permabanned anyway. epi's ban makes more sense to me even though the offending post was w/e, b/c he really didn't make much effort to observe forum decorum despite being given lots of leeway. tut is no saint, but as i've mentioned itt the two aren't really that comparable imo. tut pushes the envelope often, but still typically posts in a reasonable manner, whereas epi doesn't really try to discuss/argue/debate reasonably. here "reasonably" refers to limiting stuff like extensive use of hyperbole and feigned incredulity when someone disagrees, rather than referring to holding common positions. just don't think he cares, so i think clark was more justified. even though tut "broke a rule," the rule was questionable (imo), and while i see tuq's angle, the re-invocation of the rule appeared capricious tbh

edit: and again i prob wouldn't have banned epi, although my opinion might differ if i had taken personal stake in keeping him unbanned and he had responded by posting like he has recently

No, but he does so in a less aggressively malicious way than some. Usually.

Epi's ban was imo kind of questionable in that the post that got him banned was innocuous. His body of work makes the ban make sense, I agree.

With tut, I've been under the impression that people that are allowed to openly come back after permas (a policy I don't really agree with fwiw...if you're going to let someone back just unban the original account) were sort of serving at the pleasure of the mods, sort of a zero tolerance type situation

G10's first baby softened him up to SE mod standards most of the time. Baby 2 will continue that. He made awesome prop bets and buried most people with them. His sports savvy is underrated bc of the clouds of nonsense. He was SE's biggest asset and brought a lot of newcomers over here. He IS self-aware, and obliged the mods more than ever (see him complaining about not being able to troll the NYY thread during the postseason yet obliging!) It's pretty much universal when someone attempts suicide and fails they never try it again. I'm certain this is true for said poster. He's a different breed than all of the perma'd posters. Which can't be denied.

WWE sent Scott Hall to rehab 10 times spent > $100k on him. They're more successful than SE will ever be. Learn from them, or die 1000 deaths.
