I'm not saying it wasn't his fault just that he contributed enough volume to be a net positive and it was easy not to engage him on the few topics where he became insufferable. I do think in general the trollee doesn't get enough of the blame but that is a different issue and I (sort of) agree with your post w/r/t assani.

I guess this is where my problem lies. He clearly wasn't deserving or super close to a permaban before he posted in this thread against Tuq's command, so a permaban seems really harsh.

TuT had actually been posting quite well and seemed to have found his balance between being able to troll and still be a positive addition to the forum. That is why the "well look at all the other stuff he did" argument doesn't really sit well with me because he really wasn't toeing the line with a permaban recently.

I understand that tuq told him not to post in here and he did, but doesn't a week long ban or something of the sort accomplish the saving face while not losing a valuable poster for good?

I realize the mods here give a lot of rope, but I feel like the mods put themselves in a corner and permabanned him for an offense not really equal to the punishment.

And it isn't like TuT is my bff which is obvious, while tuq is a very good mod imo, but he was much better recently than leading up to his previous perma.

He was told not to, he decided to. Is it lame in a vacuum? Obviously. But given his whole body of work? Nah. I mean, he asked for a permaban before and posted horse pron (literally). He was given a 2nd chance, and again, took time and made a conscious decision to do something he knew would result in another permaban. I mean.....hey, have a 3rd chance, til you decide you want to get "perma'd" again! Meh.

I'm too tired of defending him to privately go to bat for him anymore because I know it's a matter of when and not if I'll have to do so yet again in the future. He gawn, and it's a shame. Heck, it's a shame Epi is gone.

It would be a good read, at least.
Aside from a Thunderdome thread, there should be an "Escape from New York" forum where all the banned posters can still post. If they somehow redeem themselves while in that forum, then they can be airlifted out and restored their full privileges.

Mods can be "the Mayor," "Snake Plissken," etc.

one thing I don't get is posters saying they agree with one ban but not the other. these dudes worked as a team, if you're happy about one you should be happy about the other vice versa

I still like tuq tho its not a democracy itb

Short of Oski's thunderdome thread idea, I have zero intentions of letting Epi back. Tuq is responsible for TuT but I'd be shocked if he plans on the mebenhoe "2nd handle is fine" approach.

I would be scrambling to permaban people for as little as possible then extort them and others. $$$$$, yo.

Pretty much, yes. It's a testament to our collective patience that it's such a relatively rare occurance.

This is the problem with your thinking. He had bursts and patches of positivity... But they were way, way, way outweighed by the negativity. If a person does a thing well once out of 10, can that be classified as a net positive? He was bad to awful (depending on the poster and interaction) in both basketball and footie threads.

I'm advocating the "Escape from New York" plan. It's not a thread; its a sub-forum where banned posters can post. they would be excluded from all other areas of 2p2 except from that particular forum. they will have their own threads, and etc.

If a non-banned poster wants to wander in there, fine ... it's like being caught outside after dark in "the Omega Man" and you are on your own.

oski's idea is awesome. id imagine it would quickly gain the moast traffic on the foarum.

ofc, no way the admins would allow it. much of the reason poasters are banned is bc their presence reflects poorly on the 2p2 name brand. horsep0rn and hatespeak and scameing are considered dangerous.

but, perhaps theres a way to confine it to mere troalls.

You have one of those pop up waivers to gain access to the "Escape from New York Forum." Once you pass, you are on your own.
