I'm going to add that TuT/BF and Epi are particularly unfortunate. I basically have told each of them what would happen in the past, and referenced my initial post above. I told them personally, "hey dude, help me out, I'm going to bat for you but it's exhausting and you're not doing me any favors by continuing to act out", and variants of that, several times. So in the end if despite knowing that, they continue to post how they posted, nothing I can or will do anymore to keep them around. This wasn't an overnight thing and they've both had plenty of warning. Heck, they've both been asked repeatedly to just help a brotha out by fixing their posting.

TuT actually tried and did a good job of fixing it for a while, fwiw. Basically, he just accomplished the same trolling-type things but in a tone that was less obnoxious and not as over-the-top as Epi. It's a shame he decided to post in here again after being re-asked not to by Tuq - he could've likely toed the line for a while. Epi I have no regrets about. I tried, I talked to him privately, all he did was argue about it and eventually he never changed a thing. I only am going to waste so much of my personal time defending someone like that. The fact that both are obviously smart dudes makes it that much easier to just put it in the past and move forward.

I do still think we should let G10 back into STST forum but whatever. Up to Mebs.

I clearly brought a knife to a gunfight and have been proven wrong about several assumptions I made. Obviously mods are necessary but its pretty troubling to see those last three paragraphs written by one.

With the rampant idiocy this place is mired in its amazing to me that so many people wanted an intelligent poster who put a ton of time and effort into posting removed because he irked some people and trolled a little too much (I wasn't around for thremp but assume this applies to him as well). BF was a net positive and would have been much moreso if people didn't engage him in the same tired derails. This place is charmin-soft. lol se.

This is total BS. Yes, it's obvious to some, but the idea that you "don't see how it bothers people" is clearly absurd given how successful and glorious your track record is at bothering people.

The bottom-line is that it's a serious net negative to forum discussion when otherwise intelligent posters put on an exhaustive play dumb act, requiring people to decipher when they are serious and not. This is effect is exacerbated when it's created by posters who are reasonably smart and frequently and with full sincerity have and defend contrarian view points.

Thremp isn't gone because of trolling. It's because he was an ass who contributed nothing. "You're an idiot, and no, I'm not going to say why - do your own homework" is pretty much the sum total of every SE post he made.

Again, in all cases the perma'd posters were given tons of time and effort to keep them around. Were asked to stop/change their behavior. Were a huge time suck for everyone involved. Yet, time and time and time again they ignored all requests. It's 100% on them.
