Not sure how this came to be about me but whatever.

I've had a couple prior accounts, none perma'd -- I tend to quit this place for a couple of months and forget passwords. Actually, scratch that, I have had two low usage gimmicks banned in 4L but whatever. The only meaningful ban I've ever had is a day from 72o or Needle for posting ITT.

It's pretty hilarious that I somehow rate as one of the mods no1 defenders in your book. I see my posting ITT as less about being a 'mod defender' - I'll leave that to the Triumphs of the world - and more about LOLing at people who behave like spoiled half-******ed eight year olds on the internet. I even took a bunch of people off of super ignore just so I could read the predictable reaction posts.

The mods have certainly gotten less likable that's for sure, though I think some of them may enjoy that.

I took pride in never getting banned in SE, and then you guys ban me for calling a boobo a boobo and you broke my heart

Even though this is a petty and childish idea. I would still think it would be cool if we could elect and demote mods every x weeks/months. I am sure BFace will be a top candidate as I would immediately vote for users of his quality. also it would be nice if MEb could not be demoted. the guy is overlooked far too much. He really is the best mod in SE.


Like in sports, it becomes a fad to make fun of certain athletes. like LeBron James for example. there are tons of haters who dont know **** or dont know what they are talking about who hate him. same with some posters around here. People jumping on other users dicks just to hate on a certain user.

this. we don't have any cowboy mods here going off and doing their own thing. any serious action like perma'ing a reg is very deliberate, and has been discussed at length by us before it happens. so blaming tuq, or Clark, or whoever is pretty dumb. if u mad, blame us all i guess.

and as others have said, if it were only down to personal grudges held by mods against specific posters, then there'd be a lot fewer people 'round here.

yeah it seems that the NBA lockout has made more than a few TZers stir-crazy, and are spreading their wings moving into other threads and trolling simply bc they're bored or something.

take it to ATF or something i guess. i'd probably try to recruit Oski first though.

well 1st he's been perma'd like once or twice, so i guess technically we could just revoke his posting rights for whatever reason at any time (if whoever originally perma'd him saw fit). and 2nd:

i'm guessing that he's broken rule #3 from time to time, and rules 5 & 7 pretty much every day. so there's that. especially 7, people have been going overboard with that lately for some reason.

we tried that once. it went really, really bad really, really quickly.

i mean a lot of forums here use the 10/20/30/40 infraction point "4 strikes" system, and you're done. in some forums you might even get perma'd for the first dumb infraction. obviously it doesn't work well to do that here bc mild-trolling is part of deal with sports discussion, and it can be fun for everyone if done right.

but you think that people might learn to adjust their behavior once they've been banned a few times, or have already had accounts perma'd and been allowed back. and if you were temp-banned 3-4 times or more you'd think that they might understand that a perma might be around the corner if they keep it up (if they care about posting here, if not then w/e). you think they might walk the line a little better. you wouldn't think they'd devolve into someone who is the biggest trolls and net negatives on the forum. change for the better? nah, just keep doing what you're doing, or become even worse. makes sense.

and it's sad bc i get the impression that TUt is a bright guy, and he has the potential to be a very good poster, but has chosen not to for whatever reason. oh well.

This doesn't really jive with a poster getting permabanned for posting in a thread he arbitrarily was told not to post in by one specific mod.

It just seems really bizarre that people think these forums are better off without Thremp Greear THAY3R and BF in it and mods can call people pro dick blowers without getting in trouble(not that I care other than the hypocrisy), and idiots can make absurdly terrible fallacies constantly and consistently as long as they don't directly call people names.

do i think the forum is better off without them? no, but the forum would be worse off if these people were allowed to continue on their course. they had their great moments, but they had 10x as many terrible thread derails and wastes of time.

Are you kidding? The one time I trolled him he completely flipped the **** out. He's the guy with thin skin, who's willing to dish it out but can't take it.
If you enter discussions intentionally taking positions that you know are contrarian, whether or not you believe them, and then insulting and nitpicking anyone who disagrees with you so you can revel in it, you are not making the forum better. And as you yourself have confirmed, he isn't stupid enough to not know what he's doing.

It's not that you disagree, it's how you disagree. Even if Epi believed every single thing he posted 100% sincerely, he always did it in a way designed to annoy people and derail discussion. Can you spot the difference between

(I know that's not the best example because it's not even that out of line, but it doesn't bode well for the level of discussion when you enter something you know is going to be an argument starting with that level of hostility towards the people you're arguing with.)
