Yeah, I figured that would be the response. The thing is, those threads get slammed with gameday traffic and do you really want people bumping otherwise obsolete threads to continue a discussion about something like Brian Kelly's decision-making?

Eh, I guess I don't really care all that much but I think too much is being made of all this. Lenient mods or not it really shouldn't be all that hard to figure out when a timeout ban for trolling is appropriate.

re: trolling in STST - i post in the NY rangers thread, or at least when that thread was active (gg bonsaltron, the keeper of the flame). i hate that team with the fire of a thousand suns. but i think i'm decent at keeping my trolling out of there; i told any of them that if i was trolling they could report my post(s) and i'd stop posting in that thread.

Yeah pretty much. I said privately that nothing regarding policy needs to be changed - people can come and go as they please but the real obvious troll/derailments can be dealt with. That's not very hard and they're not terribly common. It's not much "work".

As for kyleb's complaints...well I'm not sure about the others but I don't recall as single post report or PM or anything saying "hey please look at this and do something" as it pertains to the Indians thread. Evidently nobody was snitching so there was no way to know, and yet somehow this is the fault of the moderators.

That's not to say his other points w/r/t double standards don't have merit, but I'm pretty sure that one doesn't.

There was definitely a ton of trolling in the indians thread. There was definitely a ton of trolling in the tigers thread. Kyle complaining now is just dumb.

wrt post reports, this is simply false. I have no way to prove it, but I reported multiple posts over the season in that thread before simply giving up because no action was being taken. When I was a mod, I got emails with a username attached. If this is still the case, can you search your gmail (or have a mod do this) with my name for notifications and report back? Or maybe there's a vBulletin option to review them?

GREEAR's hypeman chiming in before all the evidence being displayed is yet another of his wonderful traits.

Not really sure what if anything was done there, or if it sorted itself out beyond those posts. There may have been a ban, there may have been a PM asking someone to chill, there may have been nothing at all. So it's possible your pleas went ignored, but it's even more likely that this wasn't as big an injustice as you're making it out to be.

If you're retracting your original argument that no "snitching" was done, then I accept it, as well as my apologies for misremembering which post I reported.

The big injustice is that you let someone basically run over the forum while banning those for doing the same thing that others do, a statement I have oft-repeated in PMs as well as the main forum. This seems to have been corrected.

Snitching on anything that's not blatant racism or a poster's personal info they don't want posted is pretty lame.

Oh and just to be clear, I completely agree with Greear's ban. I'm just laughing at kyle's high horse.

GREEAR is a net negative because he elicits those types of posts and brings down the signal-to-noise ratio here.

When the cries of "put him on ignore" are sounded, others are quick to say "lol internets / snitching on the internets / etc."

There is an obvious solution, which was just exercised.

I have also conceded that a double standard has existed. Well, it would be dumb not to since it is fairly obvious. Not sure what else you want at this point.
