You can tell a lot by looking at someone whether they will string you out or not. Young chicks who look stupid and aren't betting much or aren't betting their own money are bad dice karma and will screw you every time (in the bad way). On the flip side there is that young / first timer gold that some women have, you can just tell these types are better at life winning than the loser chicks and it shows in the results.
Of course I'll bet the same no matter what, because there is some limited value in spite-hating the people who cost me the most money. Sort of the same way that a 7 out may cost me bets all over the table...but I win the come bet! So it's not a total loss.

I dunno, this movie has always seemed really overrated and cliche. It basically gets a pass because it's playing on 50s era nostalgia in the same way as Stand By Me (although that was a great film). Also, there were certain plot holes involving the dog that didn't hold up to scrutiny, although I can't remember exactly what they are. Not to mention there's no way that James Earl Jones just gives a 1929 Yankees ball to a bunch of bratty kids for free, although he may have assumed since he was blind they'd just steal it anyway so he saved them the trouble.
