It was no slight against Beyonce, I thought her last album was pretty enjoyable. I just found it strange looking at that list, then seeing which artists were still touring/releasing music, then taking out some like Metallica which are just doing so on the back of their fame 20 years ago. Doing so found that Beyonce has sold more records then I imagined and is possibly the most popular current artist by this. Nothing against her, just surprised me that Beyonce/Rihanna had sold so much.

I wasn't just talking about the US. Around the world, many US "pop" acts are less popular as other countries have their own versions of these acts, made by their own labels. The Coldplay/Radiohead example is that they can sell out a stadium/headline a festival in London, LA, Tokyo or anywhere else in the world. This is very hard for even the biggest American pop stars. U2 just concluded what I think was the biggest tour in history, but they seem more of a musical machine then a relevant artist today.

And that AD is awesome and you should at least watch it before hating on "american comedies."

This isn't true. The Beatles don't suck quite as bad as Radiohead.

She's not very talented, and she's managed to sell 30m+ records. AD was a damn good show that didn't last very long because it wasn't popular.

Radiohead, to me, is fairly mediocre overall. Not bad. Not great. It's something I'll listen to if it's on, but I wouldn't put their CD on repeat.

rofl **** no.

Backstreet boys, nsync, hell even justin bieber would fall into this category ahead of radiohead.

More people in our generation could probably name 2 beatles than name one member of radiohead.

He said the AD/Radiohead comparison didn't work because Radiohead was fairly popular while AD wasn't.

I still don't understand what your point is.

And also because Radiohead has had a career spanning nearly twenty years and eight albums while AD lasted two and a half seasons.

But yeah, I'm glad someone finally understood what I thought was a fairly simple point.

Well, the 'rude' implied to me that you meant something different, if that's not the case then cool.

Yeah- it wasn't instantly clear from nath's posts that he was just talking popularity and not relative levels of quality imo.

Oh, I see. Well, they're two separate points. Yeah, my point there is that Radiohead is a talented band with quality output such that AD shouldn't be insulted by the comparison. I pointed out their popularity to show that "Radiohead is the AD of music" or vice versa is a poor analogy, not as a matter of proving their quality.

If you think one or the other is mediocre, I really don't know what to tell you, but that's your thing.

I think I'd prefer ABBAblog to Radioheadblog.

nath, to be fair I understand your point. I don't/didn't have a major beef with what you were saying...that AoFrantic guy was just off his rocker and that is what really got me going.

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen
