So you don't feel comfortable calling him historically elite on defense?

This thread was way better when it consisted of me making fun of Karak and his always dry fingers.

But again I understand such thinking is generally not accepted as reasonable for sports discussions on this site.
Thank you, this is my mentality. Don't know why it's "on me" to explain a statistic -just look @ google.

It's only "on you" to the extent you care about convincing people of something.

And that if they say clearly wrong stuff that they eventually realize is wrong it's okay because it's a learning experience for them and that's what these forums are for. For people to state ridiculous claims as fact with an absurd sense of arrogance and then be taught the truth. That's why we post.

You and I know that even if RAPM would have zero standard error, it might not be a great stat. And when you take RAPM at face value, you also have to defend some very strange results, like Dirk Nowitzki: Top 15 defensive big man, or Rajon Rondo: net neutral defender.

If Bobbo consistently used RAPM, it'd be one thing. It'd be like explaining PER or something. But I don't think Bobbo has like, every really used it much before. A search pulled up 15 results, and 3 of them were in this thread.

He also has a tendency (in my mind) of using whatever stats fit his argument. This might be an unfair characterization, but I don't think it would be an uncommon one. So when Bobbo quotes a stat he uses sparingly to justify an outlandish opinion, you can see why people say things like "Bobbotarding"

A few things about that.
1. It's very unusual for ANY PG to be a positive on defense. The fact Rondo is a neutral defender actually means a lot.
2. Dirk has been a habitually underrated defender his entire career.

Peja is a better defender Kobe and Rondo.

Ryan Anderson is better than Kevin Durant.

Do you now believe that Dirk is a top 5 offensive player in the game, and top 3 overall?

This is all spectacularly unhelpful in the context of this discussion and is exactly the kind of **** we're trying to cut down on from anyone.
