Seems super standard. But in that thread people are acting like reclining your seat is completely non-standard and makes you an ahole...wtf??

i'm 6'3" and can def recognize that having the person in front of you recline is gonna make you slightly less comfortable but it's more than made up for by the benefit reclining yourself. what am i missing?
This reminds me, there was a huge, hilariously contentious argument about this in OOT circa 2008 or so. There were people who were militantly against those who recline, to the point where they endorsed wearing some product on the flight called "knee blocker" or some **** which would effectively render people unable to recline without getting jabbed by the thing.

Never knew it was such a hot button topic, much less that people actually thought reclining to be so rude. It was like baby rape-levels of wrong to them. I'm 6'3" also and this pretty much sums it up:

The seats are intended to be reclined. They are only upright to make it easier for people to get into and out of their seats when boarding or leaving. The airlines can fit more people in that way, which is why everyone sitting upright is so miserable in the first place. If they could get away with it, they'd just lay people down in small layers, just like the slave ships. I should torture myself so you can work on your laptop sounds like the airline just told one of us to go **** ourselves, and I get to choose which. Hate the game not the player.

Right, in the grand scheme there are far more useful things to get worked up over.

My guess is the more someone travels the easier they get annoyed by the habits of other passengers, and the more likely they are to fall on the anti-recline side. I fly maybe 1-2 times/year and just happy not to die, much less nit about someone taking up some of the empty space in front of me.

I've been flying more frequently than ever before in the last couple years. I dont like to recline because a domestic flight is always less than 4 hours and I don't sleep, and I usually dont like to recline in any situation unless I can put my feet up.

Either way, flying coach ****ing sucks. If someone reclines in front of me I cant fault them. Their life is possibly worse than mine and maybe they could use some R&R. Maybe if the thought was "glad this person can gain some comfort in this ****ty situation" rather than "the NERVE to inconvenience ME during two hours of my life" , it wouldn't be so rustling.

My only piece of pro flying advice is to get super baked before the flight. If you are kinda afraid of heights taking off while lit is a pretty intense mental experience that I enjoy, but I could imagine some people not.

I'm not even bothering to leave the house today or tomorrow. I was in Colorado last week when New Orleans got all sorts of sleet/ice/whatever and apparently there were ****ing interstates closed, 200+ wrecks, multiple deaths, etc. It's all pretty absurd to someone from Michigan.

My girlfriend made a grocery run plus stocked up on a bunch of wine to go along with my vodka/whiskey and we're probably going to start drinking in about 20 minutes since nobody can do anything anyway.

Also any Winos want to give me their impressions of Jessup Cellars and Caymus Vineyards? Our group of 8 adults went through about 40 bottles of a wide variety of wines from both over our 8 day stay in Vail. Really enjoyed it, but don't know enough about wine to really say much more than that. If anyone has suggestions on cheaper brands that are similar quality I'm all ears.

Watching Paige over the last decade or so go from somewhat thoughtful sportswriter who looked like a standard issue old journalist to being a loudmouth trying to bring attention to himself and his midlife crisis nightclub hair has been a case study in what's wrong with sports journalism today.

I've been to Jessup Cellars. Their tasting room is one of the friendliest and most personal I've been to in Napa. I thought their wine was excellent, particularly their port. I think it's actually hard to get wine of that caliber for a much lower price, but burning through multiple cases over a week is pretty balla.

Pot brownies. Time your consumption so you're getting baked right before takeoff and you're golden
