yawn, how predictable. 'it's not wrong what they did, you're the idiot for thinking that we can have nice things around here'

victor is close to the GOAT message board poster when he's on his game, fwiw. i suspect that permanent ban will be rescinded, but i think there's two vastly different ideas about what a forum should be around here, and those ideas are starting to significantly clash. victor being permanently banned is/was basically inevitable.

We actually agree here. The problem is that your guys idea of a forum is some elitist nazi douchebag super serial club. Most of us want to discuss sports and have fun. It's the internet, not that serious.

How about postponing the ban until the end of NBA playoffs?

Consider it bad modding all you like. Many would argue that the bad modding has been going on for months or longer, as lame trolling/leveling went unchecked and that apparently was interpreted as a green light to do obnoxious things like troll drafts ("but we're just having fun! gosh guys, y so serious?"), and now this really stupid hoax.

It's obvious that straddling the middle ground of trying to keep the trolling under control by asking nicely while hoping the people playing by the rules would be happy with that strategy isn't working. It's the folly of trying to please all of the people all of the time.

As for Victor, his post came three minutes after mine. Three minutes. Counting the time it took him to log onto the gimmick account and write that post he observed the ban for all of what, thirty seconds? Too bad.

And there's a decent number of you who have demonstrated over time that you'll ***** no matter what is or isn't done, which renders your opinion by this point worthless.

i don't really think that's true, and i think that's part of the problem here. i think trolling is totally acceptable, i do it a lot, so i'd be a hypocrite to say that trolling isn't both funny and fun at times. there's a part of the forum that seems to think that trolling and leveling are the only acceptable forms of communication, though. that's where i think the problem is. that's funny for a bit, but it just gets tiresome after a while.

I think you're wrong here. It is possible to have quality sports discussion, and have fun, without the obvious ******ery. "It's the internet, not that serious" is the worst excuse ever for allowing whatever poor behavior to go unchecked.

Yeah I guess I just agree to disagree here with most. I mean there's obviously a point in which the super ******ery can detract from the forum, but I personally find a lot of it in SE hilarious [and I doubt I'm not the only one] besides this pointless **** that keeps coming up. It's a part of the fun of this forum for me. If something is so ******ed it makes me laugh, I'm going to enjoy it, even though I know it's ******ed. Just seems like everyone [me included probably] is making getting along a lot harder than it should be, especially among some prominent posters across different sports, and that's just dumb.

So like, just for example, the last time this discussion came up and you said you basically never use memes and then were immediately proven wrong, that counts as "way moar wrong", right?

Re: SE FAQ and Foodblog

Some of the bans were deserved because the trolling was getting excessive. However, imo, it was the stupid irrational hatred of TZ and it's posters that started this whole drama filled sorority ***** fest. I think a couple of you guys need to be prescribed a gallon of Assani Fishers' sans alcohol, or at least a decent douche for the sand(in your vaginas).

This isn't an uber elite forum where people can only discuss sports at the highest level. It's a public forum where people can post casually or more seriously. If you don't like somebody's posting style then put them on ignore, and if you are still irritated by the occasional quoted post of said ignored poster, then sack the **** up and get over it.

the state of the forum messages, excessive trolling, and SZ conspiracies all just need to stop, and let's go NBA, MLB, NHL, or whatever sport tickles your fancy.

I think you think my posting is a lot more srs business because you only see me itt. My most recent posts out of this thread are something combination of loling at Luongo, fellating Jose Bautista and talking about Mystery Alaska.

There is a difference between LeRat making a morbid joke and a bunch of posters consistently conspiring to troll because they are bored.
Feels like one of those 'its okay to break a rule/decree that is obviously nonsensical' type of situations

I feel like I must have missed something important. Is this all a result of Vic/BF alluding to, but never actually stating, that Rat had offed himself? Surely there must be more to it than that.

For all of some of the banned posters' faults, they're right about this one.

So because someone disagrees with a ban, they should be able to ignore as long as they strenuously object?

Shrug. I don't stay up at night thinking about this ****.

I joined this forum because I played poker. I've dealt with a lot of other poker players on this forum IRL. We have discussions and make deals that involve real life. When that happens it can be pretty easy for the two to bleed together, especially when people decide to get personal with me.

I ignore nonsensical laws in my personal life every single day, it doesn't mean that I don't understand that I'll be punished if I'm caught ignoring said laws. I do think the relative merits of the original bans should be considered though, certainly.

Re: SE FAQ and Foodblog

I think you're missing the point. Tuq warned Victor that he would be banned if he posted under another account. Vic did, and was banned...nobody is questioning that sequence of events I don't think. The issue is that Vic didn't violate any of the rules of the faq (except for some super vague 'trolling' catch all) to earn his original temp ban. Thus, the resulting perma is not legit.

I could understand it if the skype guys had been hatching some kind of devious plan with Rat in on the joke, but that isn't the case. Rat is MIA

What faq rule was broken?
