So, in your own words, I wasn't being an arsehole, it's that a bunch of American fans (I believe there are no English Arsenal fans in the thread?) couldn't handle being told that Shawcross made a fair tackle.

What sort of bollocks is that?
Basically, I was trying to find a nice way of saying "you're not wrong, you're just an *******".

Proper sensible moderation was asked for last year, instead we got more of the same. gg, wp, nh.
I do think there should have been a U.K.'er set as mod. 1. It would lessen Seth's load; 2. It would provide the balance you request.

Nothing wrong with 72 or Seth at all. I think more deference should be given to the U.K. posters ... after all, it is their game and we are visitors (generally speaking).

I appreciate that a lot of your so-called antics lately are borne of frustration that seems to stem from the fact that N. American-based Arsenal fans seem to get preferential treatment in the thread. I am not entirely in agreement with you, but I do recognize a lot of their (our) posts are of little substance and are more homerism-type posts. Well, big deal. The thread is big enough for one-eyed fans, homers, cynics, pundits, experts, whatever ... even pissed off Bolton fans .

I think most are tuning it out when the arguments you make have more attack in them than substance. Personally, I don't care about all that, I find you very entertaining and knowlegable about a sport that I am intersted in learning more about ... such would also include the culture and viewpoints of those actually attending the matches and talking it up with the man on the street. I find that valuable and I would like you to keep contributing to the forum.

+1

I always enjoyed fats contributions to the thread because it's nice to have a non top 4 poster being such a major part of the thread. I also agree with Oski that maybe a euro based mod would also be good for the thread.

I've been asking for a Euro mod, pre-WC for months. Tuq thinks that's humorous for some reason.

Is 72off a hockey mod who sometimes posts in the epl thread, or is he a soccer mod like Sethy?

I realize all mods cover everything, but there is a distinction between Needle modding NFL, Sethy modding soccer, and basketball circle jerk modding circle jerks.

i'm not a mod, but tuq said in the NHL thread:

"A non-trivial added benefit of this is that 72off is a soccer fan and come World Cup time he can help keep the nationalistic meltdowns somewhat under control."

so i think the idea is that 72off mostly stick to hockey. i am sure that tz posters with ffvb have that thread on ignore but it has 20k+ posts and didn't have a moderator.

So whats your opinion on FS?

To be honest, I usually enjoy him, and if I didn't have to deal with the constant FS related drama-bombs I'd think he was A+.

yeah except the problem with his posts is that they are intended to get a reaction from people and not a response. I almost forgot which team he supports since 90% of his posts are talking **** to arsenal fans.

I don't follow the MLB threads at all. But based on everything I've heard about them, a baseball mod is much more needed than a hockey mod.

It was the Arsenal defeats that sent him crazy. I remember he had 1 HUGE post about it all. Was pretty epic

MLB does not really have a big catch-all thread. i mean, it does, but it's nowhere near as popular as the NHL thread.
