Ehh if I were modding NVG right now I would adopt a scorched earth policy. Can't really fault the NVG mods for any decisions they make right now.

So with that in mind, I'll just let this topic die. Seems like everyone involved should take a few days off from discussing this and let the dust settle. This is SE after all, and the reason I started posting here was to get away from poker talk.

By the way, deleting posts is terrible. It looks like Phildo was talking to himself last night, which I guess is possible, but doesn't seem to be true in this case. Whichever mod is doing that isn't doing anyone any favors.

I really don't care if people yell at me. The argument seemed out of place here and I realized maybe I should try to end it before it got out of control. If you feel like discussing it further, okay we can. What exactly do you take offense to with what I said?

i can't speak for jtg, but i don't take offense to anything you said. i just laugh at how dumb you are to say it.

I don't really know I feel about the whole thing.. but there's a huge difference between not feeling terrible for these people and "deriving pleasure" from it.

I am assuming you are talking about the same thing F60 said, and I would concede its easy to say that stuff in hindsight. But the entire online poker operation was dubious at best. I know that if I was personally playing with a fair amount of money online I would have been very cautious with it, but thats my personality, to be very risk averse (which is part of the reason I hate gambling). Like I said earlier, if what I said bothered people then I apologize.

you should maybe recognize that you are on a gambling website, and that such comments are inflammatory and unnecessary. that's all. i mean, express your opinion, but expect to get correctly pilloried for it.

I understand what you are saying, but I don't really agree with you. Oftentimes after bad incidents occur, we can look back and see things we could have done to prevent the incident from occurring or if the incident is unavoidable then ways to mitigate the impact to us. This is a pretty straightforward concept. The timing was probably poor, but I don't see how people can disagree with what I said. I am sure the more cautious people probably did what I said, as karak mentioned.

As for why I wanted to sort of end this before it snowballed, I recognize there are people who have relatively large sums of money online, and that they are pretty upset right now. Thats why I wanted to stop, and why I apologized, because this event has had zero impact on me, so I am very detached from everything.

If someone has money stuck on a site then yeah that sucks and I don't "take pleasure" from it (mainly don't care), but a lot of these people are the same who wouldn't think twice about lolling at someone who lost money in a scam saying they are an idiot, or assert superiority to people who have to do things like go to work at the same time five days a week or complete assignments in school. Then they put all their eggs in a basket that is shady at best and call everyone *******s if they say its anything but the worst day of their life.

This. These people are smart or are using skills that indicate some form of intelligence. They'll most likely figure something out.

That being said, I think most people were aware of the problems with processors. These problems wouldn't happen if it were a legal activity. If you ignore the fact that it was an illegal activity, I can see having sympathy. But it is.
