Then delete the posts.

Triumph, I think that nuking threads is a bad way of going about things, especially something as tame and silly as that thread.

I honestly don't get this. We are going to complain about a no-content thread being deleted that had inappropriate posts?

there's two gifs that violate the TOS (or w/e it's called here). if i'm a mod i'm just going to delete it. why should he waste his time saving your thread that you made knowing it was going to get locked anyway?

although i am upset at losing my burn on c-viggity since he is terrible at posting gif's and is responsible for the thread's nuking

Why does it matter? This is as bad as the argument going on in the MLB thread.

The posts weren't that inappropriate (and weren't made by me fwiw), stuff like that gets by all the time. I don't care if you deleted the posts, or locked the thread for being no content, but deleting the thread behind that weak excuse is just after the fact reasoning.

You deleted Rafiki's second thread and there were no inappropriate posts in that thread. It's pretty clear you just deleted that one regardless of two gifs being marginally over the line.

Nuking threads isn't and shouldn't be standard. If you don't like two posts, then delete the two posts. If it is too time consuming to delete two posts then maybe split up the workload with another mod or grab some zzz's in between.

Well I think I did the right thing. I'd go talk to the other SE mods to get the thread reinstated. I did not delete the other thread, only other thread I have deleted(of the many that have been) recently is C-Vig's attempt at a LOLCanada thread.

First I don't like hating on Mods. I like to think I get along fine with most of the mods in the two forums I frequent most. Never had any problems with Tuq when he ran the show for most of the two years I first started posting. But if I disagree with someone I will and have been vocal about it.

It's just annoying and I don't like nuking of threads unless it is necessary.

Triumph for someone who likes to occasionally draw hard lines in the sand for things that really don't matter, you are weirdly interested and opposed to my protest.

I know your thread wasn't meant seriously, or at least I hope not. But these "challenge" threads or "survivor" threads have no place in SE. I'm pretty confident that after the last fiasco we had with this it was agreed that they wouldn't be allowed.

I'm very conservative about deleting posts/threads/banning users. Actually I'd like to think I'm one of the the most hands-off mods there are. But if something is clearly wrong I'll get rid of it.

I agree they have no place in SE. I was the one who completely randomly had two threads started about him being "challenged" if you forgot.

It would be nice if I could have a 30 post silly rebuttal thread without it getting nuked and it getting the standard lock. That way I could PM it to Rafiki along with a gif of HHH doing the suck it motion.

wait, really? you're right about the first part, but i don't understand how that negates the second part; it probably enhances it.

mostly it's a product of boredom and i'll be out in 10 minutes anyway. but yeah, i don't really think i'm going to cowed by your pointing out how irrelevant my protest to your protest is.

All good for now. But I'll just say that those posts are not allowed on 2+2 and people need to stop posting swears inside pics and gifs.

That was me. Reason being that it was his second ******ed thread start of the day. The first one was locked, so it made sense to nuke the second one as he had exceeded his ******ed thread quota for the day. FWIW if a thread is knowingly terrible I don't see the difference between locking it and deleting it. If deleted then it doesn't clog the front page with its awfulness.

I'd still like to find out the backstory about this .gif which was posted in that thread:

i've read various things about that -- from what i can see, it was a celebrity baseball game in korea, and jumping up and down on one foot like that is a reference to the korean children's game of "chicken" -- where you hop up and down on one foot while holding the other, trying to knock over your opponent and keep your balance at the same time

A video clip depicting a rather mysterious Korean baseball fight has been popular viewing recently on Internet sites like YouTube and Digg. The clip, narrated in Korean, shows a batter charging the mound after being hit in the arm by a pitch. But, before he can tackle the pitcher, the batter stops short and starts hopping around and holding one leg. The pitcher also starts hopping around, which precipitates a bench-clearing binge of mass hopping. It turns out, the hopping altercation was staged as a parody of baseball brawls and was part of a celebrity baseball game in Korea.
