Depends on the game and effort level of the OP. Niners game warrants hype and the OP was awesome.

The fact that every NFL poster now has to follow like 4 threads all week is enough of a drawback to stop this from happening. If the Sunday 1 pm or 4 pm threads or the MNF thread goes up then it is even worse.

Week 1 thread - talk about the games last weekend and rankings and generic NFL stuff.
SF-Sea thread - post like once or twice about the game, maybe some injury news, should have pretty low volume until Sunday.

I don't see the problem.

Yep. Mods need to get a handle on this ****. DAY OF GAME yo. You can very easily discuss the 49ers game in the discussion thread before then. If posting some pics and gifs about a football game gets your tiny dick that hard, probably time to see a doctor.

Pats-Jets thread should be an exception though because it will keep some truly horrific posters occupied this week

One of the best things about SE is the organization of the topics. Knowing exactly where to go to talk or read about something is important.

Niners-Seahawks game thread seems like a weird place to bitch and draw a line in the sand for new threads. One of the most prestigious organizations in sports collides against what could be a tough division foe. Would be better if lolwerewolf was there instead am I right? People dicks get hard for that, but I don't complain or be neurotic Bout it. It's pretty simple, threads that don't get any interest drop off the first page, and if they stay, then people enjoy posting in them. Either way Its no big deal.

It's thread-worthy in a vacuum, it's just annoying to have discussion splintered all week. Generally prefer the "post in the weekly thread all week then create new thread on weekend" model. And the NFC West thread is a fairly natural place for random ****talking about that game during the week, that's most of that thread anyways.

this. plus the fact that it takes <3 hours for a thread to fall off the first page this afternoon makes it damn near impossible to keep up with everything due to having to click in and out of threads to read 1-2 posts instead of reading 10 in one place.

Honestly, I just decided to make it to make more people aware that TradeOC agreed to be banned from the NE thread if the Jets lose by 21+.

Take a picture of your shoes right now, just want to be sure you know how to tie them since this post is really stupid. Werewolf isn't a subset of a major topic.

Someone fire up the MNF thread as well.

Seriously tho, 1 NFL thread. Can post in the single team forum if you care that much.

Locking the game threads from the past week by Tuesday morning and then if someone makes a good game thread for the coming week just locking it until the morning of the game seems like the best solution. If someone makes a bad game thread early then delete it and ban them until someone makes a good one.

Or just wait until the day of to make the thread like has been working since forever

while i wouldn't be remotely bothered if the thread were locked/deleted and wouldn't have made it if i knew ppl would be annoyed by it (to answer preemptively why i made it, why not? it's a huge game between the 2 best teams in football) i'm kinda confused that this is where the line is drawn

in addition to the discussion thread just on the front page there is:

4 division threads
1 stupid coach thread
2 RG3 threads
1 thread on the 4 QBs
1 chip kelly thread

That's why I'm complaining about NCAA threads...we have a gameday/week thread and a ranking/discussion thread and a season-long nongameday thread, wtf, consolidate that **** somehow
