A pro tip for all golfers:

Stay away from any course designed by Jack Nicklaus unless you are a 5 handicap or better, or want to go brutally punish yourself for 4 hours.

I played Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, MI this afternoon. Brutally tough course. There was a green with a 60 degree slope in it.

I'm pretty sure Jack Nicklaus has the same temperment as PHB, but instead of sending angry PMs, he just goes out and designs a golf course to take out his rage on everybody else.

Sorta a crosspost from TZ, but this 60yo smart dude committed suicide then published this site with all sorts of stuff he brain dumped onto it. But this particular section/page is relatively thought provoking.

Nicklaus courses are my favorite. Love them. They tend to give you several options/approaches to the game and are fun to play and well thought out.

Michael Jordan has talked about the "joy" of his first championship, but by the third championship, it had become more "relief".
Well obviously MJ was relieved about the third championship because they would have lost to the Suns if Danny Ainge didn't inexplicably double-team Horace Grant (1 FG total in the prior two games combined), leaving John Paxson wide open for three. Someone should explain that to this guy but he's probably too much of a casusalfan to figure it out.

Wait, never mind.

The 10th green? If this is the course where they had an old guy major a year or two ago, the 10th green was this mammoth multi-acre green with huge rises in it. During an exhibition prior to the event Jack ran in a putt on that green that was like 150 feet with about 30 feet of break, total lighting in a bottle.

Great looking course on TV though.

Played a lot of his tracks, including the favorite course I've ever played (Cabo del Sol, Ocean). Has some great work but a lot of bad stuff too that could never make him my favorite. Granted, so much of it is the land you have to work with but like Zimmer said, some of his courses are ridiculously punitive. I'll take Coore/Crenshaw or Weiskopf/Morrish, among others.

Yeah, that's the one. You get a better view of it after the Jack clip is played. It is basically like putting up a 6-foot tall wall and then it goes back down the slope after that.

Ate at a Shanghai place in Vegas that sells soup dumplings and the Chinese lady was quite emphatic about how to pronounce it. Maybe she was wrong, I dunno.

As I recall, Clark is roughly correct, at least for the Chinese dialect that Tsing Tao considers their own. For some reason, I recall seeing a table placard (you know, the post cards that go in between the clear plastic stands on your table at the restaurant), that advertised Tsing Tao and specified its pronunciation. I don't think I was old enough to order a Tsing Tao at the time, but as I recall, it specified the pronunciation was Ching Dao. Ts and Ds in Chinese are a little ambiguous, so Clark hearing Ching Tao from the Chinese lady is reasonable.

The beer is named after the city in which it's made. You can listen to Wikipedia's pronunciation for yourself:
