All of the rest of us who like BB however, can totally relate to being a drug kingpin while having terminal cancer.

it's not about relating, it's about appreciating walt's transformation from being a loser nerd who is a life underachiever and gets bitched around by his wife into being the man. starting s2 a bunch of other fun characters get introduced as well.

nobody on the planet can relate to omar but we all still loved watching him on the wire.

well if its not about trying to relate, then whatever

but when none of the characters ever (in the half dozen episodes I watched, again this seems important) did anything I thought made sense, it was a bit too far flung from being about the human condition to interest me

I believe your meta-axe is now stranger and just as intellectually superior. If you actually want to debate the issue somewhere, like in PMs, I'll do that. If you just want to lob weird shots that don't actually advance an argument, continue.

i wouldn't dream of skipping anything i haven't seen, but i'd recommend for any normal human being who isn't a hipster trying to catch up to skip the fly episode.

well jesse isn't intended to be a character who makes sense since he's the guy who impulsively acts on feeling and skyler is intended to be a huge bitch.

walt otoh is hyperlogical and pretty much everything he does makes sense so i'm surprised you feel that way.

i think it's worth watching since it gets continuously better from s1 to s2 to s3. i don't think it's life changingly amazing like the wire but there's not too many better tv series out there.

Yeah, this. Make sure to skip the dream episodes of the Sopranos too when you're watching 5 a night, they're just boring. Skipping Season 2 of the Wire is a good idea too, if you're really in a pinch, bunch of lame whiteys.

This is EXACTLY how I feel, and I understand the whole concept of suspending reality, and I cannot stress how much I wanted to like this show, but could never take grasp.

I've started BB twice, think I stopped both times somewhere around the part where they had the guy chained in the basement, maybe three or four episodes in. Dunno, just didn't grab me at all.

Disagree. The dream episodes of The Sopranos were entertaining and aesthetically pleasing. A viewer of The Wire would be very confused at the start of S3 if they didn't watch S2. 'The Fly' doesn't progress the plot at all though and also isn't very entertaining, so it probably is pretty skipable.

I liked the dream episodes of the sopranos cause they really nailed what its like to be in a dream.

Some are ridiculous situations that make sense and some are realistic feeling until the moment you wake up.

Dreams are an amazingly vivid alternate dimension in your mind and I love it when they are explored.

'Fly' has a giant character moment, it's really the only thing I remember from the episode.

Its a shame that there's so much AIDS in the BB thread because there are a lot of good posts there too. Tons of muck to wade through to get to them

but it still gets crushed by Walking Dead somehow, which averaged 11.42m viewers/ep this season

that's a cash cow that AMC will try to milk forever, right?
