When people ask you what time it is do you just tell them the time, or are you one of those people who gets a little creative with it? What I mean is, say it's 4:48, do you tell someone it's "four forty eight" or do you say it's "12 to 5" or something like that? "About a quarter to five"

"Creative" was a poor word choice. I just realized that when people ask me the time I almost always just strictly say the time, but have noticed many other people like to say it differently.

Can someone tell me what the deal is with Kickstarter and why it is so popular? So basically ideas that aren't good enough to get VC financing get money from willing individuals because they don't have enough money of their own? Why would I invest in something in this manner?

Pretty sure it's even worse than that. Most kickstarters I've seen are just a glorified pre-order process, your return is the ability to buy something six months in advance if you're lucky, few years if you're not (or I guess in some cases, never)

Its mostly for smaller stuff that vc firms don't see it being worth their time to fund or for stuff with a worse prospective ROI but people still will contribute money to. This is why a lot of stuff is using kickstarter like small movies or video games because fans will contribute 20 or 50 bucks just to see something from their favorite series get made.

It is another attempt to allow "main street investors to invest like the wall street big shots" even though it will most often result in average joes getting their faces ripped off. Just like basically everything else in the financial world.
