i'm aware of that. these degrees are ostensibly catch-alls - seems to me there's a problem of communicating what the private sector needs out of colleges, and i doubt it's significantly more of any of the things on the left.
kc: good article - i agree with a lot of it, find the rest one of those compelling arguments that people who are very strong writers and arguers make where you get 4 steps into the logic and you're like wait a minute, steps B C and D made sense, but I've got to go back to A - that seems like an awfully big assumption. there's certainly some deeper questions raised by that though.
