Chop a red onion and a serrano pepper with some minced garlic in half the ground beef for spicy patties; a sweet onion, yellow pepper, some rice wine and worchestershire in the other half for sweetness with the fat.
More effort, but cheaper, fun, and a bigger hit. With someone to chop, this doesn't take much time at all.
You just really have to know how to mix with the beef softly because you don't want to break up the fat too much. If you do this, you won't even need bread crumbs or an egg.
