Stay awake for an hour or so when you get home and drink heaps of water.

Rehydrate + sober up a bit before sleep = reduced/no hangover.

you should be eating some food too. Its not great to drink on an empty stomach.

Also, i usually buy two Gatorades if im going to drink (better than watter! [waterboy reference ftw]). one i have before i go to bed, and then ill put one by my bed in case my mouth is dry or im just thirsty. Finish the gatorade in the morning and eat some starches.

Saw some research, on your mood while drinking, being predictive of hangovers. Sounds like you were at the club having a good time though, so that may not be relevant.

Last thing would be, the more sober you are going to bed, the less of a hangover youll have. Alcohol depresses the immune system, so sometimes youll be really tired and pass out; dont do that. Stay up for a couple hrs and drink energy drinks/water.

no coffee either? I know its not a healthy combination, but when your immune system is being depressed by the alcohol, i feel like i need something to counter act that.

Maybe I'm just ignorant but it really doesn't seem like caffeine is gonna counteract the alcohol re: immune system

And it will certainly further dehydrate you and further mess up your sleep rhythms

A good cup of coffee makes any morning better.

Yep. Along with weed, and water and/or gatorade

Hah, I guess weed would be a great thing for dealing with the nausea, not so good if you're trying to sober up tho

Hangovers def get worse as you get older. Of course as you get older you drink >10 drinks like almost never. And still they get worse.

Bet everything you own against Sergio today, he's the biggest mental midget in sports history and he's in a final pairing with Tiger

He might be out of it by Hole 5

ya i mean I'm def aware of all these tactics, and they certainly used to make a big difference. for example the first time that I had pedialyte when getting home was in vegas on a night when i was blacked out or close to it and i had almost 0 hangover the next day. but doing this stuff just doesn't seem to help anymore.

ya gatorade + staying up awhile used to be my exact formula for success. it's tough on nights like last night when I legit don't even feel drunk. but I still drank water and electrolytes and stayed up for an hour and it didnt matter

that part about mood while drinking is very interesting. i could def believe there's some truth to that. despite being at a club for a friend's b-day it was kind of an off night.

My rule is to drink a full glass of water (16-20 oz) before bed for every 3 drinks I had. When I do this I basically never get a hangover even if I was blacked out. When I fail to do this it can get pretty bad at much lower levels than it did when I was in college.

good news though, now that I'm more awake i'm feeling like this one actually isn't gonna be a 2-day long.

Alternating every time between booze and water is good. A long walk before bed is also good.

Getting old sucks. It's amazing how much I could drink in high school/college and just be fine the next day. Hangovers only get worse. I have one right now, I think I had about 5 drinks last night. Coconut water is another thing to add to the repertoire.
