I go to a place like this where the owner has a couple other employees. I tip him a little better, but only because he does a much better job. I wouldn't treat him any differently.

this is exactly what I was thinking.

keep prices as if you are winning at all times but offer a ton of promotions and special discounts when you are losing.

It's hard for me to believe that a team that has an average fill of 48.5% in 2012 is maximizing their ticket revenue

I dgaf about why the tickets are priced like that, I just hope I can get lower level infield tix for <$40

- maybe maximizing ticket revenue isn't the goal
- fans don't like it when the section right next to them sells at a discount and they bought at face
- if you cut prices across the board the demand curve might not be as elastic as you thought it was

This is my barber. Just a one chair shop. Costs $15 I give $18. meh.

Every 6-8 weeks for me. I tried every 4 for a while but I got lazy. I'd like to find a barber closer to me and then maybe it'll be every 5ish weeks.

I couldn't tell you how much tickets are. Don't buy tickets in the lower sections though. Just buy nosebleeds and then sneak down later. Nobody goes to the games and I don't see how those people would catch you or even care.

I paid $7 for nosebleeds a couple years ago on the last game of the season and walked down and sat in the Crawford boxes (awesome, btw). Those things used to be packed and impossible to get into.

So earlier itt I told you the Hilton Americas hotel a couple blocks from the stadium was really nice. Well I just found out the NRA is having a convention here this weekend at the George R. Brown convention center right next to that hotel (and on the way to the stadium). Rockets also playing on the other side at the Toyota center, then the Tigazzz game. So yeah that hotel may be super expensive. They said 75,000 people are coming to town to chew tobacco and talk about guns.

Did you get a hotel yet?

Nebraska Basketball is ~100 seats away from selling out its entire 15000 seat new arena entirely in season tickets. How's that for hilarious

They'll get to see a bunch of good basketball teams, unfortunately not on the court at the same time.

As far as prices go I think the demand is wayyy more elastic wrt quality of the team and much, much less so wrt price.

Like, I don't care if the tickets were free, I'm basically not going to watch taht ****-show of a product. Some people though are just loyal DIEHARDS who will blindly support their team no matter what so they'll pay $20 or whatever.

Not to mention ticket price is only a small piece of the entire pie. You've also got parking costs (usually at least $10) and then concessions once you get in, which almost everybody spews on a little. The actual ticket could be $0 and you'd still likely spend $25 just getting to the stadium and drinking 1 soda and 1 thing of nachos or whatever.

They know this so they can up their price of ticket infinitely from $0 to $10 and it's only a 40% increase for the fan. $25 --> $35

The problem with baseball is they play 81 home games a season and a bunch of them are weekdays at 7 pm. These games are not convenient for people who work OR have kids. Its not easy to sell out a midweek night game unless you have a city with a ****ton of people with easy access to the stadium and a team that is able to draw fans.

Lol yeah hilton americas was 300+ so that was off the list quickly. I ended up getting the Hyatt Regency for $109 + taxes and fees. $140 total including parking. I got it on hotwire a couple hours ago and on every other site it's $239 so I think I did ok.

If you could recommend me any bars along the walk between there and minute maid it would be .

The recommendation of sneaking down is good also, but ****, a nosebleed seat is $20 so **** that.

Baseball teams have to plan on not even coming close to selling out a lot of their games though and factor that into the ticket price

What? $20? They used to be $7. God damn this new owner is the absolute worst.

That is a complete joke. I could buy 2 reel lawnmowers with that money.

Hyatt Regency is where I had my wedding reception so that's cool. I've got an 8 month old baby so I couldn't tell you much about the bars downtown anymore. There is a Benihana right next door to your hotel though, and I think a Schula's on the ground floor.

There's a bar across from the stadium on the *third* base side (though I guess you won't know which side that is - it's the facade that faces SW fwiw), near home plate called ... Home Plate I think. It sucks though - they didn't even have green beer on St. Paddy's day. And the parade was literally on that street.

The Dynamo stadium is like 5 blocks southeast of Minute Maid and there is a cool bar over there called Lucky's I think. Toyota center is like 5 blocks southwest of Minute Maid but I don't think there are bars over there. It's kinda surrounded by garages and hotels and whatnot. I think midtown is still probably nice. Some nice rooftop lounges over there. I would PM nath, as he lives in the city and I'm sure he can tell you more accurate info.

Sections 405 and 406 are on there for $7.06 though I'm not sure how many tickets are left. Buy those, move down, profit. Or just buy at the window when you get here. There will be plenty of seats left.

In general, you aren't likely to enjoy the whole downtown bar scene. It's just not like the northern or eastern cities. Everything is spread out and everything sucks.

If you are expecting to walk down a street and see a bunch of young people having a good time and see a line of like 10 different bars in a half mile... that's not gonna happen.
