Schools like Yale, Tulane, GA Tech, and a bunch of others are also in some areas with high crime rates.

What is Joanna Kerns doing on CNN? I know she was a reporter on Growing Pains but she sounds like she's got a really bad cold here.

Alright, you son of a bitch, you've incurred my wrath this afternoon, so let me tell you a little story.

Back in the day, after serving 35 years on the CPD, our family's beloved Uncle Harry was working twice a week as a Special Deputy Marshal at the federal courthouse in Chicago; effectively a security gig, nothing more. He happened to work the same day that the surviving member of the Chicagoland Bonnie & Clyde impersonators tried to escape from custody. The perp overpowered one officer, killed another and encountered my uncle in the underground parking lot, where they exchanged rounds. That exchange took my uncle's life, but not before he planted a round into the bastard's back. Realizing he was more or less dead to rights, he killed himself in that same parking garage, thankfully before he could harm anyone else. He unambiguously crossed the line between suspect and threat, losing his entitlement to non-forceful containment in the process.

Reading the updates this morning on how this chase began, with the shooting of the MIT campus cop who (just like my uncle) found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, it's all hitting too close to home yet again. These suspects have shown further contempt for human life with their actions over the last 18 hours or so, they were/are armed and dangerous and they represent a clear threat to the safety of the neighbourhoods they're currently terrorizing. They've lost the right to a cozy apprehension a long, long, LONG ****ing time ago.

Would I prefer these kids were taken alive so they could answer for their crimes and receive well-deserved public scorn? Of course I do. But those aren't the parameters we're dealing with any longer. This is the end they've chosen for their pathetic episode, and it's time to end it for good.

How dare you turn this into a soapbox manifesto. That is a disgusting post.

At the gym watching every tv covering this and I got to wondering why it is I'd want ruski blood over this or death in most instances for that matter. I have no affiliation or affinity for Boston. I know nobody afflicted by this. I could say prison overcrowding is a problem and execution for crimes warranting execution would help that somewhat but that's disingenuous. I don't give the slightest **** about incarceration rate beyond lip service.

For me it comes down to one simple belief: the moment you've followed through on a premeditation to end innocent human life you've forfeited your right to yours. Whatever days you live beyond that is more than you deserve. It's not a matter of catharsis, or vigilanteism, it's just what I believe. I know it's sanctimonious but it's no more sanctimonious than arguing the other side that everyone deserves human dignity no matter the crime (this is directed towards the overall belief, not any one poster in particular). Bulllllll ****ing ****. A 19 year old murders people at a marathon, injures scores more. Repents by murdering a cop and apparently triggering more explosives and turning Boston into a police state? What dignity is deserved here?

you're not more or less qualified because of an 3rd party who experienced tragedy happened to be related to you, this viewpoint that I should not be able to form (perhaps unoriginal) independent thought is logically absurd

horrors aren't any less real because they're "more expected" in places like iraq, the reason we care about the boston bombings more so than say a bus accident in somalia or the sudanese ethnic cleansing is that we can identify with the victims and the terrible randomness of such acts of terror that could easily claim , but lets not pretend that this is the equivalent of acts of fully rationalized war such as the ones that knowingly directly caused many hundreds of thousands of civilian, non-murcan lives in places many people haven't ever given a single thought about.

how dare i form independent thought cos stuff that sucked happened ages ago to ppl related to you? ninja plz

i know this is just an internet forum but hearing things like "just kill them" and "they don't deserve to live" etc is pretty disquieting. that's not a democratic and liberal society discoursing, that's the sentiment of citizens in a police state drummed into a frenzy of fear and anger towards an alien barbarian horde

sorry to politard or logicaltard, u can go back to being steaming mad now

Just prepared an awesome Reuben Sandwich. The key IMO is to not hold back on the amount of sauerkraut or corned beef in the sandwich.
