pick out a red one. its two bucks which isnt very good since the rockstars are usually 1.50 and sometimes on sale for a buck at the store. however when i bought it the nice indian lady at the cashier told me it comes with a FREE SAUSAGE BISCUIT. jackpot mother****ers. guy brings it to me cold and i take my items and go to work. so now im at work and take out my two energy drinks like a badass since now everyone thinks i went hard last night even though i was just playing the new ootp baseball sim clicking the mouse and hoping the computer showed me good numbers for my pretend players. yolo. anyway i tried the drink and it isnt very good tastes like code red but a weird strong aftertaste, however the biscuit was INCREDIBLE. perfectly soft biscuit, good sausage. secret is to microwave for 30 seconds like it says on the wrapper, then FLIP IT OVER and microwave an additional 17 seconds. right now ive still got half the kickstart left and when i finish it will drink the rockstar anyway. kickstart has 92 mg caffeine compared to just 80 for the rockstar so thats ok but prob wouldnt buy again but would get more biscuits.
Only way this would've been better is if it ended with "whiskey dick, **** my life"

My problem is I only have to get up real early twice a week. So I'm not setting my sleeping schedule around those days.

Rockstars are probably my least favorite energy drink, followed by Red Bull. Don't drink much of them but usually avoid both like the plague. Energy drink hipster?

I also knew a Rockstar rep in college and was friends with two Red Bull girls from Baton Rouge. Their job description was to drive to NOLA, distribute Red Bull a can at a time outside bars and parties then go back to Baton Rouge. What they would actually do is come to our house as soon as they got in town, drop off every single can they were carrying at our place, drink for an hour or two, and then go back to Baton Rouge. Sick oversight at that job obviously.

1) Got the Barlean's EPA/DHA liquid (orange flavor).

2) put it in smoothies (1 teaspoon, as recommended on package)--it tasted fine, even wife thought so.

3) Tried it by the spoonful, will not repeat or have wife try it that way.

4) Read through Chim's articles and found them pretty compelling especially as to the non-production of DHA under a flax-style Omega3 intake. Learned many long new words. Intrigued to read that beneficial DHA absorption levels continue up to 3 grams per day, which is 10x most pill doses, and 5x the Barleans.

5) noticing that even the Barlean's had more EPA than DHA, googled for specific descriptions of what each does and what the ideal balance would be; 1st result was a 1 year old article saying EPA is the most important of the two and you want 2x that than DHA (among other stuff). 2nd result was an article stating that the author of the first article was FOS and just saying that because it's cheaper & easier to get oil with that mix and that's what he's trying to sell. At the bottom of this article was a "Buy our DHA-heavy Fish Oil" link. 3rd result was an article saying that DHA is more essential but that you still want EPA in amount at least equivalent to amount of omega6 fatty acid (I forget the specific one) you are consuming since they compete for enzyme that the omega6 uses to create inflamation. 4th link looked like a description of a recent Oregon State University study demonstrating the differences between DHA and EPA, but it turned out to be a health sub-forum on a porn site. They did link to the study but it was from 1999.

This is typical of any nutrition topic, in my experience.

6) The Barlean's bottle is an airtight squeaze-stream type which you have to squeaze fairly hard to get any flow. In rather a hurry this morning, accidentally unscrewed the whole cap rather than flip the top lid up, then turned the bottle over and squeazed into the blender as usual. As a result, I'm going to have the world's most expensive and fishiest green smoothie for dinner.

Really hoping it improves my brain function, and really looking forward to another stop at Vitamin Shoppe for the same thing.

A few tidbits that may or may not be correct:
* "inflammation" appears to be a real thing, and that omega6 appears to really cause it. DHA/EPA (I forget which, "really") really does act like a cortiscosteroid in alleviating it. Wife was on those after brain surgery specifically to reduce swelling and inflammation in the brain, but could not consume fish oil at the time due to blood-thinner interaction.
* ha, ha; antioxidants being bad for you was not just a figment of my imagination (be honest, you thought so). But don't worry, they're only bad for you if you're counting death as a thing (and even then it has just 5 specific anti-oxidants being considered).
* Money quote from comparing hundreds of anti-oxidant studies; "Vitamin E lead to a small net decrease in mortality when considering all trials, but a large net increase in mortality when only considering low-bias trials." You have to admit, that's pretty ****ing funny!

No. 9: Huntsville, Ala. This southern city has long had a "smart" core to its economy, a legacy of its critical role in the NASA ballistic missile program. Today the area's traditional emphasis on aerospace has been joined by bold moves into such fields as biotechnology. Kiplinger recently ranked the area's economy No. 1 in the nation.
Three cities that were part of the Confederacy and no mention of San Francisco/San Jose/Palo Alto/Bay area? Seems legit.

Or Massachusetts or certain potions of Jersey, Connecticut etc

Yeah, and another thing I noticed is that's from 2009, but somehow today was the day a bunch of people decided to share it on Facebook

And those are the ones who left for the bay area and Manhattan. The ones who stayed might post it some time next year I guess

Yeah, the richest state per capita in the country probably has a city that's one of the top five smartest in the country.

Unless your bottle's "serving size" is two or three pills, in which case maybe 30.

sortbynationalmeritcutoffscores is probably the easiest/most accurate way to get a meaningful state intelligence ranking, for whatever that's worth. Bit of a leading indicator, but more or less.

Averaging the last 5 years of cutoff scores and sorting gives you a top ten of

District of Columbia
Massachusetts
New Jersey
Maryland
California
Connecticut
Virginia
Delaware
New York
Washington

and a bottom ten of

Oklahoma
Nevada
Montana
South Dakota
Utah
Mississippi
Arkansas
West Virginia
North Dakota
Wyoming

Seems pretty legit. Kinda surprised to see Wyoming dead last as opposed to MS or WV. Kinda surprised to see Utah so low, too.

Didn't read the article, but Huntsville has the highest amount of PhDs per capita (or maybe per something else.) The claim isn't outrageous by any means.

But the rest of Alabama:

One note on the inflammation thing. It's not that n-6 is bad and n-3 is good. Inflammation is a really important and good thing. But, it's all about the ratio. Just so happens western diet is really high in n-6 so n-3 becomes the primary concern. Having way too much n-3 and not enough n-6 would also be bad.

Per the census, they don't make the cut for PhDs:

According to data from the 2000 US census, here are the cities with populations over 100,000 with the highest number of Ph.D.s per capita. (Keep in mind that only 1.1% of Americans hold a Ph.D.)

1) Cambridge, MA - 9.6% (of population age 25 and above)
2) Ann Arbor, MI - 9.3%
3) Berkeley, CA - 8.1%
4) Athens / Clarke County, GA - 5.8%
5) Madison, WI - 4.2%
6) Durham, NC - 4.1%
7) Irvine, CA - 4.0%
8) Tallahassee, FL - 3.8%
9) Fort Collins, CO - 3.7%
10) New Haven, CT - 3.4%
http://www.census.gov/prod/2003pubs/c2kbr-24.pdf

We can all be shocked collectively that there are ton of PhDs in Cambridge.
