I'd agree Atlanta is like a 5 or 6. Enjoyed it. Also agree Dallas a 1 or 2 and NOLA, while overrated in general, is a 9 or 10 for that type of event.

elaborate on how NOLA is overrated in general? Its properly rated as a top tier getaway for a week or less.

I agree with atlanta being majorly better than lolarlington, but still mediocre. Downtown atl really kind of sucks.

Your parents may remember where they were when Martin Luther King gave his I Have A Dream speech. Maybe you remember where you were when Spike Lee tweeted the wrong Zimmerman home address in honor of Trayvon Martin. Today we come together to enshrine in our minds the moment we heard the newest ballad of civil rights.

"Dear Mr. White Man." "If you don't judge my gold chains, I'll forget them iron chains."

"The relationship between the Mason-Dixon needs some fixin"

We've discussed this before. Cliffs: it's a dirty, somewhat gross and not particularly safe city that, while unique in terms of the type of experience/culture and home of really good food, isn't elite and is overrated precisely when people claim it is. It's good for like exactly two days, after which I start to feel unclean. Proponents and locals are exceedingly proud of it, and hyper defensive of any comments suggesting the city isn't zomg awesome, which makes debate on its merits tend to be a waste of time. It's a really good, unique city worth going to at least once with serious drawbacks.

It's not terrible, I'm taking my wife there this fall. But it is not some hyper elite standalone destination like NYC/Chicago/LA/Miami

since NYC is super clean and exceedingly safe, right? All cities are safe if you aren't an idiot and all cities are dangerous if you are.

Good example of why discussing NOLA typically isn't worthwhile. The safety comment isn't even really controversial.

NOLA could take a huge step forward and get close to Barcelona (the mist similar type of experience I can think of) in terms of awesomeness if it merely dealt with cleanliness and safety issues.

noze, do you ever feel unsafe in NOLA?

I have been about a dozen times and haven't ever had any close encounters or felt unsafe at all. I just don't venture into the projects at night or when drunk. None of my friends or family have ever had problems with safety there either to my knowledge.

clark, aside from Bourbon Street and a few surrounding areas in the Quarter, what parts of New Orleans are more dirty than any other city? As a whole, I have found that NYC is far dirtier than New Orleans (lots more overflowing trash cans and bags of trash on sidewalks); however, New Orleans does have a few blocks that are dirtier than anywhere I have been in Manhattan.
