shawshank is overrated b/c there are bros that think it's a legit GOAT-contender. have never heard anybody try and argue the departed is GOATish, even going to college in boston. plenty of "it's my favorite movie" and over-quoting but that seems fine to me (especially if you feel some attachment to boston) since it's a really good flick.

more bizarre (and more prevalent) is boondock saints' favorite-movie status.

I'm not talking about Bostonians or whatever. But on IMDB it's got an 8.5, and of course it was Marty's first Best Director award, which is just massive LOLS.

What's odd is I really wanted to like it, and should have liked it, for the following reasons:

I identify strongly as Irish-American
Love Jack
Loooove Marty
Like Leo a whole lot
Damon's solid
Walberg and Baldwin own pretty hard in general

Yet it didn't do anything for me.
Sheen kinda sucks
Jack didn't even try to use an accent or act in any way whatsoever.
Leo was some emo bitchass
Matt Damon played a thoroughly hatable character.
Therapy? LOL
End was ridiculous

I don't know I just didn't care for it much. Like I feel like it barely scrapes the top 10ish films for Marty, Leo, and Jack. Which is pretty impressive fail.

I really enjoyed Shutter Island. Much moreso.
