Yeah, that exchange was reported. The "ysscky" thing being a no-no is a site-wide rule (albeit one that I think is kind of lame) so Riverman deserves no sympathy, although he will obviously bitch about it because that's what he does.

RAIDS gets time off for sucking at an incredibly high volume. It appears all he does all day, every day is spam this forum with nonsense.

Both of them could use some time outside. Hopefully they will take advantage of this opportunity.

Heard a girl at the bar order a Sierra Nevada and say Nevahhda. Not with a boston/ny accent but close.

I believe the correct way is to pronounce Nevada like vat.

How do you pronounce Nevada?

Also though, it is generally accepted that place names do not need their current "official" pronunciation to match the language that generated it in the past

But I will still say nevahda because that's the only one that doesn't feel awkward. Although others don't necessarily SOUND awkward

Right, that's the "official" pronunciation even though it is no longer the most common.

But I'm pretty sure it used to be the majority American white person pronunciation. That's how Keruac always said it.
