huge cities are only awesome if you are very rich

average middle class people living in NYC/SF/Boston/DC is just so incredibly ******ed

in most of the midwest and almost all of the south and southwest you can buy a nice 4br house with a yard for a 1k mortgage payment, which gets you a roach infested studio in any of the above listed cities

i mean i get that people have family roots and stuff, but it just boggles my mind that so many people stay in the ne with such a crappy quality of life when there exists a clearly superior alternative

Agree with riverman. Population growth is a concern only because it is to slow to support out current economies and drive innovation. For the next few centuries I'd be worried about people in first world countries having too few kids at too lengthy of intervals more than anything else.

lots of beaches in NYC/DC/SF/Boston apparently (the ones they do have that don't suck aren't accessible for non-rich people)

you know where they actually do have beaches? the northern 2/3 of florida, SC, GA. where you can live for 1/4 the cost of the northeast

Saw this on my drive home from work tonight. The fire department was in the middle of pulling a 300lb woman out of the sunroof as she mother-****ed them when I passed by. Pretty lol.

edit: the guy standing in front of the hummer in sweatpants, a tucked in t-shirt, and blue rain boots was pretty funny too.

Not if you live in Vancouver. (BC's) Whites stopped having kids (read: 1.4ish fertility rate) in the 1980s and you can clearly see it in the present day demographics. Attitudes of "Go back to China!" and "Too many Asians!" are very common here. (edit: there's an implicit 'not enough young whites' built into those imo)

If the entire USA starting sporting fertility rates like those of British Columbia and Ontario (around 1.5ish now) they'd be FUBAR within a few decades, since there aren't enough Asian/African young married couples that meet the criteria of english speaking and educated to make up the difference, which is the approach the Canadian govt is taking.

But the USA has a fertility rate of 2.05, which is v good compared to Canada/Japan/Germany.
