Nothing like having a comments section which displays a whopping two comments before requiring another click. It doesn't even look like it's effective for ad whoring either, I just turned off my ad blocker and the only ad on the page is all the way at the bottom, which you literally have to purposefully scroll down to see, you can read all the content without seeing an ad. It got rolled out at their car sight, Jalopnik, first, guess Deadspin must be second and the rest of their network will get it in due time. Truly baffling

deadspin has always looked really amateurish to me and searching for old stuff is a pain in the ass

The taglines that were so visible right above the title of each article are now a really light faded grey color, and if it is longer than like 10 characters it gets cut off anyway. So that's ****ty.

There was a handy sidebar that listed ~15 most recent articles - now there appear to be 5 articles on the top bar, and you just have to scroll down (and scroll and scroll and scroll because all of the articles feature a fairly large picture which takes up a chunk of vertical space) rather than just looking at the easy thumbnails on the side.
In addition, this sidebar would list a bunch of thumbnails of similar articles (if you were reading the most recent Foodspin, it would list a bunch of older Foodspin articles on the side) so you could easily find similar, older articles

There used to be a list of maybe 30-40 of the aforementioned taglines down at the bottom so you could see what was trending and what had been featured recently. Which was both handy and I'm sure resulted in more article views (Oh wow I missed an article about that, wonder what that was about? *click*)

And there used to be links to the other Gawker sites at the bottom which was also nice because I read Lifehacker and Kotaku quite a bit too. These links are gone.

I know I'm irrationally angry about this but the redesign makes zero sense to me whatsoever. Wouldn't making the site easier to navigate result in more clicks, more article views, more advertising money, and happier readers?

It's like Facebook's old redesigns, I'll be outraged for a week and not care at all after that
