strf is used close to the ideal amount imo. the worst thing a poster can do with a good gimmick account is overuse it.

I know two girls who failed at doing anything productive, so they went back and got a masters in social work. One is now an elementary school teacher, which is fine but she hates kids, and the other is a raging sociopath whose own father wont employ her as a ceo of a several thousand person company. Cool stories bro.

My party of four was meeting another party of three.

The four of us show up on on time for aforementioned reasons and because I'm a huge nit about punctuality when other people are involved - on time is two minutes late. They could have seated the four of us right away by ourselves but wouldn't seat the seven of us together until all were present.

We call the other group and they say they're five minutes away (which means they're already late despite very explicit instructions). TWENTY minutes later they roll in. In the interim we are standing in a crowded area getting in everyone's way, watching everyone else get to eat.

I lit into them pretty good given the ridiculousness of the situation and the fact that they really had no excuse - this has happened before which is why I was so aggressive in clarifying the time beforehand, and they knew we couldn't be seated until they got there. Of course, we then had to wait another ten minutes to get a table because the place was full.

Why are some people such ****ing inconsiderate *******s when it comes to other people's time?
don't get me wrong this **** pisses me off to no end. but i think its also a super classic "fool me once..." situation. if there is ANY history of this then i think you are the dumb one for not just taking the table for 4 and eating without them after 5 minutes or w/e.

so just wait in your car or something until the rest of the people get there? that is an awful excuse for being late.

Five minutes gives me time to take a leak, maybe order a drink. Forty minutes gives me time to sneak out and murder a hobo.
agreed this is often the worst part. people calculate travel time like the calculate their share of a tab. they just look at pure freeway time and ignore parking, walking in, etc, just like they look at the price of their entree+drink and ignore shared apps, tax, tip etc.

Functionally, why should we view a 10-year-old with laziness in a separate moral category as a 10-year-old with ADHD?

To use Holliday's post: take the assumption that both the ADHD sufferer and the lazy person ultimately want to know and remember the details of the talk. Ultimately, why should we view (a) and (b) differently?

We generally buy into the notion of "free will", which is fine in that it's a fairly convenient assumption to make society run. We all have different brains, but if we're ultimately morally responsible for all our actions then at least the system is consistent.

But the idea and process of cordoning off a very specific subset of maladaptive mental characteristics -- and exempting only those from moral culpability -- highlights the problems with this overall view. Namely, that people without "disorders" are just as much a product of their brain and environment as people with them. The treatment may be different, but what's the moral implication of differing treatments? And what if the treatments aren't so different? ADHD pills tend to work for laziness, too.
great post.

If you are late multiple times then I stop giving a **** about showing up on time, it's pretty simple.

i suggest you organize a movement that boycotts buying goods that are shipped via truck to your local point of sale.

please let me know as quickly as you can how that turns out...i'm on the edge of my seat.

in the mean time, i suggest you relocate to an area directly adjacent to a train station, or perhaps an area where goods are shipped via boat, helicopter, or float plane?

Hey there CW McCall, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want truckers boycotted. There are things that are necessary in life but it doesn't mean they aren't annoying.

A 17 point critic to audience split generally indicates an insanely depressing movie

Usually these movies are in the " very good but wouldn't watch again" category, but this was just so depressing.

Surprises are terrible.

The only surprise I want is waking up to see my wife and Buffy the Vampire Slayer in my bed enjoying a double-headed dildo.
