1) Not making fun of anyone, just a funny question to me.
2) Bell's isn't really a microbrew anymore. They're a top 20 maker by sales in the US.

You can get bells in sc so the distribution is fairly wide

yeah, Two-Hearted Ale is there along with Stone IPA and Dogfish 60 min as the main upper-tier beers that the majority of decent liquor stores here carry

Craft brewery then.

Just saying its not big where its surprising for someone to stumble onto it.

It's not widely available in nj where I live for example, and most stores have pretty good craft sections. I'd imagine most of my friend here haven't heard of it.

When I moved out to chicago in 2008 Bells got into a spat with their distributor in Illinois so whenever I drove from Michigan I brought a case of Bell's with me.

It's not the best beer, but it's the beer I grew up drinking with my dad on our backyard porch. I'm partial to it.

Speaking of craft beers. The big liquor store chain in my area started getting into the craft beer growler game a year or so ago.

The only problem is they charge like $15 for the 64 oz growler (reusable ldo) and like 11-18+ for any of the good beers. And people seem to love it.

It's such an excessive money grab it makes me angry. I mean why spend 16 dollars for 5.3 beers that is 9 dollars on the other side of the store, when that 6 pack costs the store more money than filling your growler. Ugh

Bell's is the second best brewery in Michigan, only behind Founders. Oberon is great in the summer months but two hearted is the best out of all their year round stuff. My go to IPA on most occasions

eta: could be far off based on my own personal sample. Some of those questions, though. "Do you ever have trouble focusing on school, work, or any task?" Who doesn't?
To the first paragraph, study after study has shown that the internet age is really ****ing up everyone's attention span / ability to focus. I suspect the answer would be much higher than the percentages you suggest.

It's like the "are you an alcoholic?" test. The questions are phrased in a way that nearly everyone who has had sufficient fun with booze in their youth is diagnosed as an alkie.

But even if it is over-diagnosed there is no doubt ADHD is a real thing, even if it's overused as a cop-out.

Bells is in the perfect spot where they are big enough to be able to do pretty much whatever they want with making beer and getting quality ingredients.

Canning starts next year, finally be able to take Oberon and Two Hearted to golf, lake, pool, etc.

My wording probably wasn't ideal. The 10-20% was for people who'd be in the clear on that test. Agree with your test comparison as well.

And, yeah, I don't doubt that ADHD is a real thing. I guess the question is - what sort of thing is it? What do you do if 75% of a specific population legitimately tests positive for something like that? Even if the test isn't perfect, there's no question there are a vast number of youths/adolescents/college students with attentional issues.

I actually think "cop-out" is a pretty misleading way of looking at the situation. I don't think there's any reason to doubt that these people, by and large, are having legitimate issues that hinder them, even if there's a group with "true ADHD" (if such a thing exists) that they aren't a part of.

Regarding the first, I'm afraid in the age of smartphone, texting, and high speed data we're all kind of ****ed, particularly younger and future generations who are used to having their needs sated immediately and are being pulled in a thousand different directions at once.

I was recently prescribed Vyvanse, a drug similar to Adderall, for the first time. In the course of my research I came across a place in town which is trying to address the issue largely in a non-pharmaceutical way, which would be ideal, but the results are unproven to date. Even if it works it only addresses the small percentage it serves and who can afford treatment, not the rapidly multiplying population of spazzes in the world.

Regarding the second paragraph I'm mostly referring to using it as a crutch or excuse instead of trying to overcome it, and that some percentage of the time it's just people being lazy and it can in fact be overcome, e.g. me with the tardiness thing.

well, "we're ****ed" doesn't exactly resolve the situation. Do you prescribe half the kids medication (problematic for obvious reasons)? Drastically rethink the demands that are put on them? (Schools definitely need to evolve, but this is a slow process, and then what happens in college and the workforce?) Accept the status quo, where some kids (predominantly affluent white children I'd presume) have access to elite mental PEDs that nearly everyone would benefit from?

I don't think, fundamentally, it's possible to entirely separate "laziness" and ADHD in this group of people. It's all the same question of brain wiring, rewards circuits, etc. That's not to say that willpower and mental discipline don't have an effect, but that the "ADHD" characteristics are fundamentally linked to these properties as well.

People being misdiagnosed with ADHD repeatedly is a different thing that it not existing. It exists. I have it. It tends to follow other neurological disorders that cause it. Usually most people with 'just' ADHD are misdiagnosed in my anecdotal experience. Or they have other issues that haven't been diagnosed.

And laziness has no similar symptoms to real ADHD. I don't know why that is being discussed except as a ******ed parent/psychiatrist thing.
