I love bourbon on the rocks (in fact I only drink bourbon on rocks) but I don't like scotch on rocks at all, or even with water. Scotch is the only liquor that I truly enjoy straight.

It's a close decision for me but if I was dying would I want to listen to a song about some dude trying to get some?

Nah.

Everyone hit that video and tell me that isn't the best opening of a song ever.

lol Makers. The gorge rises at the mere thought

**** is just plain delicious, and I don't even really like regular Jack.

A nice Anejo tequila might be my second choice.

Regarding Deadwood, I found season 3 the most compelling watch the first time, mainly because the Swearengen/Hearst dynamic allows the season to build to a more conventional dramatic climax than the other two.

Upon watches 2 through infinity, season 2 is pretty clearly the best. Each episode is close to perfect.

Not sure what Makers is up to, but about ten years ago or so Jack Daniel's went from 85 to 80 proof. I found that 2.5% reduction in potency to be fairly tilting but then realized it also meant I was slightly less likely to drive my SUV into a ditch after having five or six of them.

Flavored vodkas (e.g. Three Olives) have all been around 70 proof as long as I can remember, which is probably for the best since women tend to prefer them.

Captain Morgan's is another chick-friendly spirit and I think it's like 55 proof.

Thankfully Seagrams 151 can't ever get watered down without changing the name or engaging in false advertising. So if you're drinking for effect there's always that.

I can hardly notice between seasons of Deadwood, I think ordering them would be a futile attempt.

I just powered through.. kinda look at it all as one show.

Makers is going from 45% alcohol to 42% alcohol. Read a little about their reasoning/process and it seemed pretty defensible to me. Basically, they don't have the supply to meet demand, can't increase supply any other way without threatening the integrity of the barrel-aging process (which is the real value of the whiskey), 45% was always an arbitrary number, and they extensively taste-tested it before the change. What percent of people drink Makers completely straight anyways? It's only around a 5% dilution.

No idea what my 10 songs would be but they'd probably at least include:

NIN "Closer"
JS Bach "Air"
Zeppelin "Bron Yr Aur"
