the vid was on the front page of reddit a few days ago. the comments seemed to indicate that this was a recently created fabrication/parody made to look like an old VHS. some guys going off about the aspect ratio not being possible back then or something.

makes sense why i got no karma..yea i was 100% under the impression it was a recent video just because there is no way something like this could exist and not be known about for so long.

Finally watched Ted!

Whoever decided to be an executive producer to this film must have been off their rocker or high or drunk or high or maybe off their rocker. As an Executive Producer, how do you read that script/storyline and plot and think this concept will actually be a box office success, thus a positive investment on your part???

I would have never thought it, until now.

Wasn't the greatest film, but like 'The League', I thoroughly enjoyed it. Had enough lulz to get my approval. In fact, I'm fairly confident they could make a successful weekly TV show based on Ted.

Stupid? Yup.
Entertaining? Yup.

no i'm refering to the fact that ted was written/directed/produced by seth mcfarlane who has a pretty awesome track record and probably had people lined up to invest in his movie which happens to feature much of the exact same type of humor as his very succesfful weekly TV show...

It's amazing how the Lama views himself as a serving all of humanity, while the Pope is merely a servant of the Church. And by the Church, I mean 85% the institution of the Church and 15% the people who really are the Church.

Comparing the twitter messages of the Lama @DalaiLama and the Pope @Pontifex is eye opening. The Lama is amazing, and makes the Pope look even worse by comparison. His resignation is good in that it will call attention to the Church and create hopefully fruitful discussion about how to improve the way it approaches certain things.

This is certainly what I'm hoping for. I'm probably biased because John Paul II was so revered in my family, but imo Benedict was such a regression from JPII. Hopefully this is an opportunity to reestablish respectability and mend some wounds. We have an awful lot to atone for.

I've become rather disenchanted and jaded with the Church over the years, but it'll always be a huge aspect of my cultural identity as the child of an immigrant Eastern European family. The Catholic majority deserve a voice and vision of leadership that doesn't embarrass them needlessly.
