Yeah I mean you can get by in NOLA on $50k no problem (assuming the giant killer mutant rats don't get you.). You're just going to be either living in a dump or way the **** out in the boonies and either way your kids will be going to crappy schools and you're going to need to replace the suspension in your car every six months.
Oh you were actually serious. LOL at living in a dump or way out in the boonies on $50k. A good amount of my friends are in the $35k-$50k range and not a single one lives in a place anyone would describe as a dump and they are all in the Uptown/Garden District/Downtown area. Some of us make more than that live in pretty nice places. We're all 23-27 years old. Yeah if you're closer to $35k you might have to take on a roommate to avoid a studio or something, but lol at that situation being unique to New Orleans.
Charter schools have replaced a lot of traditional public schools and have improved quite a bit since Katrina, but I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on this or anything.
I've never even had to come close to replacing my suspension. Not saying the roads in a lot of neighborhoods are great, but using hyperbole hardly helps your point here. You might have to drive a little slower in areas you don't know, oh noes. I'll put up with that for the nightlife, weather, food, events, outdoors options, etc that living here provides.

Also noze forgets that cities other than new orleans also have things like plumbing and electricity now. When you adjust for his coke-addled assumptions, his posts make a lot more sense.
I'm not even sure what this means. Congrats on your low Fedex rates in Memphis though!
