im the same way, i usually just deal with it
basically i was there with like 10 of us, maybe 8 idk. all ordering kobe beef.
i got the ribeye, it was cooked perfectly. nice crust. however, it was pretty tasteless and not tender. everyone else at my table is having gasms over their food. I had to beg one other guy to try a bite of mine as validation.... "there is some chewing to be done". i honestly felt like i had had better steaks at home from costco.
i told the maitre d, he took it back no questions asked. i told him it was cooked to perfection but it tasted like it had no seasoning and that it was tough, and that i assumed i must have just gotten a bad cut for some reason. switched to my the skirt which my friend had which was melt in your mouth.
basically i was like no ****ing way is this a $109 steak. it also had no cap on it, who the **** eats a ribeye with no cap?
im sure the chef was thrilled that he had a 23 year old kid sending back his $109 steak!
edit: i also was really into top chef at the time and all i could think about was tom colicchio judging the meat i got and complaining about seasoning
