Really hard to choose between Selling the Drama, Lightning Crashes, & I Alone singles-wise

The latter two get much more recognition and were bigger hits, but Selling the Drama is easily my favorite track

White, Discussion is another underrated single, and the hidden track at the end isn't too bad

Basically one of the only albums where I can't pick a favorite song, or even 2 or 3 favorites. I'm no album junkie by any means but still

edit, oh come on henrik

Currently reading "Made to Stick" (solid book btw, highly recommended) and came across a nice litte gem. There's a paragraph about the difference between "sportsmanship" and "Respect for the Game" and the example for someone respectiong the game they picked is...
Spoiler:
Lance Armstrong - ruh roh (when he waited for Ullrich obviously to swap doping stories)

Agree.

Does August and Everything After qualify as an underrated early 90s album? It was really popular, but most of what the Counting Crows have done since then has been awful and Adam Duritz is a punchline. But man, that album is solid, pretty much top to bottom too.

I always enjoyed "Einstein on the Beach", which got radio play in between August and their next album, but for a long time was only available on a DGC rarities compilation.

Throwing Copper was probably one of my five favorite CDs of the 90s, so it's nice to see it being discussed here. Agree with nath that Selling the Drama is the standout as far as hits go. Like the other songs (knew them before they were released as singles) but not as much. White, Discussion was great too.

Also, have the song T.B.D. in a current rotation, although I can't remember if that was from Throwing Copper or not.

Crows clearly peaked with their first album, I'd only put one non August song in the top 5

1. Round Here
2. Rain King
3. A Long December
4. Mr Jones
5. Anna Begins
5b. Omaha

Everybody seems to like this album. This was my wife's favorite band. About 12 years ago we got to see Live + Counting Crows here in Houston. Was a great show. Those bands went on a tour together and depending on which city they were in, flip-flopped the headliner. Here, Live headlined. Adam Duritz read some piece of paper to the crowd about a battered womens' shelter and some girl next to us turned to her friend and said "Isn't he soo awesome!?" lol. It's hard to believe Duritz got to **** both Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox in their prime.

Ed Kowalcyk covered the first part of the Eminem song "The Way I Am", to which the crowd started cheering. Then he cut it off and went on some mini-rant about how ****ty today's music was. lol. Buzzkill.

I just read up on Live and apparently he left the band 2 years ago, and the remaining members joined up with the singer from Candlebox and started a band called The Gracious Few.

The first 3 CDs I ever bought were Throwing Copper, Weezer Blue, and STP's Purple. I used to play them in my parents' bedroom on the only CD player in our house - some giant thing they bought and never used. My Country/Rap-loving brother looked at the cover of Weezer Blue album and was like "who the **** are these nerds?" Within a couple weeks I caught him playing the CDs himself. lol.
