That reminds me, the movie that got snubbed the year Titanic won wasn't Good Will Hunting or As Good As It Gets or whatever MEb ended up picking, it was ****ing L.A. Confidential.

I tried to find the caffeine content of Four Loko but wasn't able to. an 8 oz Red Bull has 80 mg of caffeine; a 12 oz Coke has 35. You're probably getting 4 oz. or so of either in a mixed drink at a bar.

Four Loko might have less per ounce, I'm not sure because I can't find the info, but it also comes in giant ****ing cans that don't really allow for drinking a little at a time.

I would have been fine if they could have somehow awarded five acting Oscars to L.A. Confidential.

I like the Inglourious Basterds pick fine, but I didn't see many movies last year. I think I saw 3 of the 10 best picture nominees?

Inglourious Basterds would have been a lot better if that French girl made a sex tape with the black guy and showed THAT to the Nazis like I thought was going to happen.

Inglorious Basterds would have been a lot better if Tarantino had any idea what he is doing with the "power of film" subtext.

If Basterds was directed by someone else people would have liked it a lot more. That whole history lesson about how that film is flammable was just laughable coming from him.

http://www.chronology.org/tolkien/ imo. The Hobbit is my favorite book, I've read it at least ten times.

Breaking my "2p2 break til Saturday" because I had forgotten about the NBA season opener being tonight.

Also, we talked about four Loko in law today, I felt awkward trying to pretend I didn't know what it was.

wait, you prefer The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings?

I recently read The Hobbit again for the first time in several years and its incredibly juvenile in comparison (not taking a shot at you either).

To me the two works aren't even comparable, but maybe you prefer the lighter read.

yeah agreed. LOTR is much better. I actually plan to read through it again within the next year or so (4th time I think).

I'm pretty sure one of these days I'm going to make an Edited Bible where I just cut out all the genealogy stuff and try to make it into a coherent narrative. Would be awesome if done correctly but ridiculous time consuming and I would probably get murdered. Well I would definitely get murdered if I did an edited Koran as a sequel.

I actually thought about that for a while at one point. Probably has something to do with it being one of the first novels I read, so in my life and it's content it's like going back to a simpler/more innocent time.

I understand where you're coming from though, no offense taken.

Well, there are a bunch of narratives that don't really belong together involved, but good luck!

Apparently at one point Thomas Jefferson edited all the magical ******** out of the Gospels to come up with his own version. Supposedly there wasn't much left, but what was there was pretty powerful stuff.

Yeah, I know, but the Germans didn't know that. Ripping out a massive Star of David during the act would've been clutch tho.

Am I missing something, or is this Denzel train movie really just about a train. Is there a villain or twist or something? Not sure I can take this seriously at all.

re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Foodblog, and Forum Discussion

I have a theory that Denzel only read the first 10 pages of the script to Philadelphia and was like "Aw sheeeeeeeeeittt I'm a badass lawyer, *****!" Then he got on set and he was like "Oh what the ****, I have to show some compassion and defend this queer dude with AIDS? What the ****, god dammit" but was already contracted to do the film.
