I don't think of my wife as my best friend but I enjoy spending time with her than probably any other person in my life. I feel sorry for people who hate golf but get out every weekend specifically to have a reason to get away from their wife. That's no way to live. Obviously not everybody is going to find that kind of person but those who have are pretty grateful.

My mother-in-law, on the other hand, ****ing sucks. Mother-in-laws really are the WOAT people. Especially if you marry an only-child.

It blows my mind that people can find another person that they trust enough to spend the rest of their life with.

how many miles do you drive a year? Just lease a toyota camry if its under 15k/yr. I think you can get one for like 2k down and $199/month which comes out to $10k for a 39 month lease and then you can upgrade. I'm 25 months into my 39 month lease and have no complaints.

I'm on my 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee, last one I bought used for around $17K. Man I love Jeeps, like being higher off the ground than cars and the less chance of dying in a bigger ride, but Jeeps aren't so bulky that they're hard to park or maneuver, and they're built for comfort. Keep fighting the temptation to get a newer one because car payments suck but the redesign from 2011 forward is phenomenal.

That's not very helpful since I really don't know your preferences (SUV vs. sports car vs. hybrid, preferred MPG etc.) but that is mine.

I know I sound jaded, but your wife’s not supposed to be your best friend. She’s not even supposed to be in your Fave Five. When’s the last time you begged your best friend for a blowjob? I don’t believe these guys. I think they’re just saying it to score points with their wives and to make the rest of us look like *******s. Your best friend is the guy you bitch to about your wife getting fat.

I think this is probably a lot more co-dependent than most men though. Not saying that it's not healthy.

In a long term, serious relationship and still need at least a night a week where I'm with a friend or doing something without her. I would say that still half of the trips/nights out/whatever in my life are without her and the other half with her. We both find it way more healthy to have separate lives and lots of time spent with friends. We've also found that most of our friends that are couples feel the same way.

It's tilting when a guy brings his wife/girlfriend along when it's pretty clear it's a night out for the guys, no matter how awesome she is or how much you like them.

What? No.

If your wife died, it's likely you'd feel like someone you have an intimate relationship/have children with/share lives with died.

this is optimal I think with the caveat that I dont mind if girlfriends or wives tag along as long as they are willing to play the "lets get hammered," "lets watch sports all day," "time to degenerately gamble," etc. game of the day/night/vacation. This basically never happens on a vacation though and the level of enthusiasm or complaints in other scenarios is basically 100% dependent on the girl.

lol @ citing Adam Carolla as any sort of authority about women. What a caveman.

My girlfriend probably is my best friend in the most practical senses, but I mean, I also have two guys whom I've known for a long time who I'd call my "best friend" if asked. All three of them fit the criteria I'm looking for in a best friend, but I only share a bed with one of them.

I don't bring my girlfriend to bros nights, though, and I do get annoyed when any of my friends do (I have one in particular who'll do it who's dating a woman he doesn't really like but is too lazy / passive to break up with, but that's another story).
