pretty sure the charge resulted from alleged choking and I don't know that his history is as clean in that respect.

Got a 15 dollar amazon gift card from my OOT secret santa, want to get something I wouldn't usually get, or I'll get Nate Silver's book. Any ideas?

You messed up the "can't hit a curveball" joke that everyone else made two days ago.

does anyone have a recommendation for a NYE party/venue in the DC area?

I'm making an impromptu roadtrip with a few friends up there this weekend and will be staying until New Year's Day. We are staying a few blocks from the National Mall and doing the whole monument and museum thing in the mornings and afternoons and then plan to drink from dinner through the night on Sat-Mon. I'm not concerned with finding stuff to do on Sat or Sunday but don't want to get stuck without a ticket to a NYE party if that's going to be required to make it worthwhile that night.

Just head to the IRS building and bend over, since that's what we'll all be doing at midnight anyway.

You need a ticket for most places if you want to a true nye party...

Dc downtown countdown is a solid option but I am not really familiar with the band this year, and tix prob like 180ish now (all inclusive tho)

There are lots of other venues doing buy a ticket all you can drink type experiences also.

Downtown Countdown. Have been before and can recommend it, although like lolromo said I don't recognize the bands this year. Tickets get progressively more expensive as the night approaches. Not sure what they'd be now.

There's a lot of good sourcing sites for dc nye stuff. You'll likely need a ticket for just about everything. I myself am currently debating the merits between a house party and spending the night out somewhere in the city.

Downtown countdown is $149 for normal admission and $175 for VIP right now. Worth it?

If we go the cheap route what area is the best? Georgetown? Adams Morgan?

Karak, any tips for getting my fingers wet?

Thanks.

Whether it's worth it or not really depends on you and your friends. You'll definitely have plenty to eat and drink. Lines are never long. Check out the music and event details on their site and see if it appeals to you guys. You're probably going to spend 150+ each no matter where you go.

I'd stay away from Adams Morgan (a much younger very brohan crowd). Georgetown is pretty inconvenient to get to and will be a snobby spot.

Dupont is my usual haunt and will probably be a good NYE spot. H Street is the new popular place to go. U Street is also good but will likely be a hipster crowd. Chinatown is good food but mostly boring night life. Wish I could be more detailed but I'm phone posting.

To get your fingers wet, dip them in your drink.

we're all 25 so I think we can go with basically any age range aside from all 21 year olds or something silly like that. Last time I was in DC was when I was 23 though and we spent a bunch of time in Adams Morgan and it seemed age appropriate, but maybe I just overlooked that we were as old as anyone in the area. I will suggest H street. We aren't into the hipster scene and my friend's lived right beside Chinatown when I visited in the past and we didn't find much to do there.

I just don't like Adams Morgan. There are better venues with better crowds everywhere else imo. It's like a big, ****ty frat party.

Everyone seems to like H Street. I haven't spent a ton of time there yet. I'm stubborn and always end up in Dupont.

You will likely need tickets for most places worth going to. There's really not a cheap way out. I'd be prepared to spend 150-200 on the night.
